When the phone rang, Elan wondered briefly who it could be, but froze before she could reach it to answer. She recognised the pain of the contractions immediately, remembering Rhi's birth. Immediately, she picked the phone up only to hang it up so that she could phone Danny.

Danny answered on the third ring, having only spoken in George moments before. Tara just gave birth! he informed his wife, cheerily. I'm on my way to the hospital now, do you want me to swing by and pick you up?

What, Tara stole my day?! she exclaimed, laughing.

What?! exclaimed Danny, unthinking in the sudden rush of excitement and joy.[/i]

The journey to the hospital was sped up by the fact that Danny diverted a lot of the incoming traffic by playing with the traffic lights. They arrived quite quickly and Danny found an orderly to help Elan whilst he checked her into the hospital. Shortly afterwards, he bumped into George who was getting some water for Tara.

I'm the one who just had a baby, but you're the one who looks like shit, commented George, bemused by the idea. Danny stuck his tongue out.

I'm having a baby too, dickhead, he retorted before hugging his friend. Congratulations, by the way!

George laughed loudly at that. Hey, congratulations to you too! Tara won't be pleased you stole the day..

He ignored his friend What gender? Name? Weight?

A little boy - he doesn't have a name yet. And he was nine pounds.

You know what name I've always loved - Daniel! he commented. George was laughing when a nurse approached them and asked if George was the "idiot in the blue shirt". Smiling, he headed off in the direction of Tara's room and Danny headed off towards Elan's room.

Still waiting, she commented when he reappeared in the room. You managed to get a hold of anyone yet?

Saw George just now - Tara's just given birth. A boy, nine pounds, he replied, kissing his wife on the forehead.

Congratulations to them, she smiled. This boy seems to want to take forever, for some reason. Rhi was much quicker.

You're already comparing them, commented Danny. You're going to give Danny Jnr some serious resentment issues.

He's perfect, she muttered, watching him teary-eyed.

It wasn't long before they were both discharged from the hospital, and allowed to return home. They drove back to the apartment. Rhi was already there, having been brought home by her great-aunt who'd been babysitting her, and she was ridiculously excited about meeting her new baby brother. She said she was a little disappointed it wasn't a girl, though.
