Neodraconis Short Stories Empty Neodraconis Short Stories

    Post by Neodraconis Thu 17 May 2012 - 16:17

Here I will post short stories. My first one that has nothing to do with anything supernatural, even though you could possible think that. Here it is, "Silence"

    Silence

The dim light in the stuffy pub flickered as a couple flew passed it, dancing to the fast-paced, the 1912 New Orleans Jazz that was filling everyone’s ears. The two men that were watching the dance floor at the safe distance at the bar smiled and chuckled at their own little joke. One of the men, James, knew he was having a bit too much to drink, which in his measures meant that he wasn’t drinking enough.
“A whisky on the dot!” , he almost shouted back to the bartender behind him and tapped on the counter, as if to gain his attention, not even bothering to look behind him to check if his order was registered.
He was too busy looking at the blonde woman at the other side of the pub. The way she wore that white dress, it was making his heart race. He prodded a bit to his friend, Walter, to gain his attention. He just pointed towards the woman and Walter grinned. He moved closer so he would hear what he had to say over the band’s furious tones on the saxophone.
“Didn’t think she was your type!” , Walter said a little surprised
“Neither did I, until I saw her.” , James answered, not taking his eyes away from her.
Suddenly, a glass of whisky glided across the counter and James still had the reflexes to catch it properly. He took some deep gulps and then put the glass back on the counter. He swayed to the beat of the rhythm.

Jake swayed to the beat of the rhythm. The 2012 techno beat was filling the dance floor and the flashy colored lights never stopped to reflect on the group of people dancing.
His buddy, Will, standing beside him laughed hysterically and Jake couldn’t help but do the same at the jokes he was throwing at him. But he never let his eyes go of the girl he had been targeting the whole night. Her night black hair and how her red, tight dress showed so much of her, made his blood pump faster.
He took a couple of sips of his beer. He had begun to see the room swirl a bit, a couple of drinks ago but he hadn’t passed out yet, and if anyone asked his friend Will that meant that the party wasn’t over. The beer bottle was soon empty and so he turned to the bartender who already was serving him another one.
“On the tab?” the bartender yelled questioningly to be heard over the loud music.
Jake nodded and took the new beer bottle to his mouth and took some more sips. He then tackled Will to gain his attention. When he finally reacted, Jake pointed at the girl in the red dress and did an imitated wolf sound to convey his interest in her. Will moved closer and yelled to overcome the voice of the techno-sound from the speakers.
“Don’t think she is your type, man!” , Will said with a disapproving voice.
Jake ignored him, he wouldn’t know a hot piece even if she was standing in front of him. He glugged the rest of the beer and did a satisfied voice . “Oh man, that’s good.” , he said, mostly to himself.

James put down his fifth glass of whisky and did a satisfied voice. “Oh man,, that’s good.” , he said, mostly to himself. James noticed his good judgment getting weaker and his boundaries did as well. He decided to approach the girl in the white dress. When he was close enough that she could hear him he opened a conversation.
“Hi beauty! What’s your name?” , James said with a flirty tone on his voice. He just pictured his face red and rosy because of the amount of alcohol in his body.
The girl just giggled and said. “You first, stranger.”
James smiled. “James. Nice to meet you.” He offered his hand.
She took the hand extremely gently and with her smooth and fragile hand. James couldn’t help but to adore it. Then he looked up and met the girl’s blue eyes with his own green.
    “Lisa.” , she introduced.
“You don’t know what the wonderful things I want to do with you.” , he said with a secretive smile on his face.
“Like what?” she asked, not really knowing what he was referring to.
Then James noticed it. She was young, couldn’t be more than seventeen, but he didn’t care. After a while’s hesitation, he moved closer and whispered in her ear all the dirty and adult things he wanted to do with her.
Her face turned into shock, then anger. She slapped him, leaving a red mark on his face.
“The manners!!” Then she pushed her way through the crowd in the stuffy pub and headed towards the exit.

Now Jake knew he had been drinking too much, not remembering at all how many bottles or glasses of anything he have had. However, he hadn’t let the girl in the red dress out of his sight. He decided to approach the girl. He got so close that he could talk to her.
“Hi! I’m Jake.” he said while he jumped up and down with the rest of the dancing swingers.
“Hi! I’m Laura.” she answered. She turned around and their eyes met, now standing face to face.
James felt his nervousness kicking in when he stood so close to the girl he wanted do so much things with, none of them child-friendly. Now standing this close, he noticed that she couldn’t be more than seventeen. But he didn’t care.
“Want to have a good time?” Jake knew his mistake even before he had finished the sentence. He had really had too much to drink.
The girl stopped to jump up and down and so did Jake. Her face turned into shock, then anger. She slapped him.
“JERK!!” She pushed her way through the crowd on the dancing floor and headed towards the exit.

“Wait!!” James said, running after Lisa. He needed to tell her how sorry he was. How stupid he was. He ran out the exit and saw her moving away from the pub, walking down the street. He called on her.
    “Lisa! Wait!”
Lisa turned around and looked at him with equal part fear and equal part determination.
“Get away from me. Don’t make it worse than it already is.”
He looked at her and his regret was openly shown. He noticed that she relaxed a bit.
    “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said it.”
“No you shouldn’t have.” she said, hurt.
He moved closer and after his apology, she let him. When he got close enough, he could smell her rosemary perfume and he felt all the passion and lust coming back. With the alcohol in his blood he couldn’t help himself. He gave in to his lust.

“Wait!!” Jake said, running after Laura. He needed to say how sorry he was. How his nervousness had taken over. He ran out the exit and saw her moving away from the party, walking down the street. He called on her.
    “Laura!! Wait!”
Laura turned around with equal part anger and equal part fear.
“Get away from me, creep! I have pepper spray and I am not afraid to use it!”
“I’m sorry! My nervousness took over.” He tried moving closer when Laura pulled out the pepper spray out of his bag and pointed it at him.
He tried to calm her down, putting his hands in the air and saying. “Take it easy, I don’t want to hurt you.”
She relaxed a bit and when he moved closer, she didn’t stop him. When he got closer he could smell her strawberry perfume and he felt all his passion and lust coming back. With the alcohol in his vein he couldn’t help himself. He gave in to his lust.

James pinned Lisa to the stone wall that belonged to the 1912 jazz pub, and kissed her.

Jake pinned Laura to the stone wall that belonged to the 2012 underground dance club, and kissed her.

Lisa tried to resist, using all her strength to push him away. James relaxed his grip a bit and that was all that was needed so that she could push him away. James got a grip on her big white dress and felt how the stitchery was ripped apart and Lisa tripped on her high-heeled shoes.

Laura tried to resist, using all her strength to push him away. Jake relaxed his grip a bit and that was all that was needed so that she could push him away. Jake got a tight grip on her handbag and Laura tripped on her high-heeled shoes.
Lisa and Laura fell and when they did, a surprised sound escaped their lips and their bodies didn’t have the time to react. Then their sound was silenced by a crushing sound. Blood started to spread from their heads, it was over. The blood of pool shone red in the moonlight that appeared above the buildings. The silence was augmented by the shock of James and Jake. Because that was all that was left. Silence.

That's it, at least for now. It was more meant to give an impact than anything else.

Not really a story, just some dude explaining the world he lives in. Doesn't even know what it is really. Maybe an introduction to a roleplay or something.

“What is the world Modnar, you ask? Well to answer that question for ya, we have to go back to the year 2012 of Planet Earth. Don’t think that this is another planet or that we live in the future. Okay the latter part is true, well, most of the time. You see, during the year 2012, the earth got kicked out of its orbit from the sun. Just a little bit, but enough to change everything. You know the predicted apocalypse that was going to happen December that same year? Well, in a way, it was the truth. But the human race didn’t die, we got stuck. When the Earth’s orbit was changed, the planet got trapped in a rift of space and time and, how should I put it, earth just stopped there. Sure, it moved, but not in a good way. Because every time the earth moves a little, so does the logic in the world. Because of the instability of the earth, as soon as the earth moves, the space and time around it change something. Night can become day in seconds. 2014, can become 1894 just to change back to 2014 again, couple of months later. It doesn’t even always have to be the entire world that gets affected; it could only be Asia, or Europe. But these changes doesn’t only change how the time or year changes, it changes everything. Some people can get a mutation that doesn’t make sense; some can get powers that would blow your mind, literally. Because of the rift in space, other persons or races may come visit us sometimes, like ghosts, dragon, dwarves, aliens, you name it. Some are friendly, some are not. But don’t think it is all bad. This fills our everyday life with adventure, even if it is for our survival. Where our world’s name originates from? The name Modnar is the word Random spelled backwards. Because that is what this world is, Random. This is the world we live in. The world where the random events that happens around us, determines if we live to see another day…or night.“

Awesome. Don't know what to use it for, though, as I said. Just got inspiration to make the text. Would be fun to use it for something.

Don't even know if I should call this serious or not. This story is takes place in the island I live in, called Gotland in two places called Hemse and Visby. There is also a place mentioned called Stockholm which is the capital of Sweden. I know there is some minor grammar errors in the text but hopefully you will still like it. My first work written in first person:

”I like it here, the atmosphere is so calm and there is not that much stress here and the people doesn’t act like the spoiled brats like they do up in Stockholm. Like Jonas, he is such a good boy and knows how to be responsible. Well done with that one, sis.” My aunt was on a visit and even though I felt suffocated just being in the same room as her, I thought it could be nice to at least stay an hour with her. But she didn’t make it easy. She had talked non-stop for about a quarter and so far almost everything she said was wrong.
First of all, he wasn’t a good boy; his aunt just didn’t know that he was gay. That realization would absolutely kill her. She hates homosexual people. One time she actually threw a bottle of water at two men because they were holding hands in public. Secondly, I’m not that responsible, I have low grades, and I party at least two times a week and can’t handle money. And lastly, people on Gotland, Visby especially, could act like the worst brats of them all sometimes; I have had first-hand experience.
A couple of months ago, I partied at my best friend’s place, Erika, and we were having a good time. Suddenly the door opened and in stormed some brats from Visby. No one had invited them but they started partying with the rest of us and Erika thought it was cool since they seemed nice. But then they started asking for certain kinds of brands that I don’t remember the names of, except that their names were fancy and they started to change the songs on Spotify to something they liked. They started to trash things, not on purpose but still. They acted like the owned the place, even calling Erika a whore. Erika, The one that had invited them in. I still hate those guys so much.
But after she had talked for another 45 minutes I headed to my friend Erika who lived across the street. She lived in an apartment. Lucky her!
But even before I had gotten my feet outside the door, my mom yelled at me to be home before 7 and to not forget my coat. I wanted to snap at her but I didn’t, I could at least pretend that she was a good mom and that I was a “good” son when my aunt was there.
“Come in!” Erika yelled when she heard the knocking on her neutral and boring door. I opened it and stepped inside. I was almost made deaf the second I stepped inside from the sound effect from the new Halo game that Erika called “addictive”. The same game she had played non-stop for weeks.
“Erika, you really need to get outside if you don’t want to become a vampire or something.” I told her while I took the liberty of sitting down beside her. I heard the crunching of snacks that probably were days old that Erika just hadn’t cleaned up.
“Haha, very funny. Thanks, but no thanks.” She answered while blasting someone of a platform on the game. She made some pretend sound effects and when pressing the buttons she moved her body like if her movements would help her evade the others shooting at her game character.
“C’mon, can’t you at least go to the party tonight? Pretty, pretty please?” I said and went down on my knees for a fake prayer.
    “What party?”
    “The one Luke is having.”
To my surprise Erika paused the game and turned to actually face me. She smiled broadly and teased:
“Who’s Luke? Is it a new crush of yours?”
“No.” I said “He’s straight so. But I could find someone else there.”
“Okay, I will go with ya. Someone needs to be your wing-woman, right?” Erika said while laughing at how weird that sounded.
I told Erika to wait for me while I went home and got ready. I walked home, noticing that the temperature had dropped. When at home I quickly changed my clothes and put on a new perfume I bought at a new small store in Visby just a couple of days earlier. I tried to sneak out but Nelly, my mom, stopped me before I could.
“And where do you think you are going?” She asked with her arms crossed and with a strict face that I knew too well.
I sighed and told her the truth about the party, my face showing regret, not for going to the party but because I got caught. I should have taken the rear door.
“You are not going to that party, do you even know who this Luke is?!”
“He’s someone from school.” I said annoyingly.
“No, you are not going to an almost stranger’s party.”
“I’m eighteen; I can do whatever the hell I want!!” I put on my coat and slammed the door on my way out.
My mom is very overprotective and doesn’t like party as she got drugged at one when she was younger. Since he heard that story he didn’t accept drinks from strangers before he knew them or if the drinks came directly from the bartender. But she was sometimes so frustrating. I was old enough to make my own decisions. I had actually thought of moving out several times but it was hard to get an apartment and especially during late autumn.
The rain poured down and so when I waited for Erika and for the bus my hair got soaking wet. But I actually prefers when my hair is wet, it looks better that way. I started listening to some Techno music on my phone and after a while the bus arrived, shortly followed by Erika. We sat down on two random seats back in the bus. Then I told her about my mom and what she had done this time and then we started talking about all our stupid relatives. It actually makes me feel better to talk about stuff like that with Erika.
After another hour had passed we arrived at Visby. I and Erika made our way to Luke’s party, passing the typical Visby-surroundings of a lovely mixture of old and new buildings. The traffic were loud but not too loud. The weather was a little chilly but not too chilly. While at the party we was greeted by Luke himself. Soon we were drinking and laughing with the others, having a good time. It took a while before anyone started dancing and it was around the time they did start that I saw him. A guy so hot that I almost felt myself melting. But of course at that time, Erika had forgotten her duties as a wing-woman and was dancing with some of the other party-dudes. I just stood there and daydreamed that he would look at my direction instead of talking to his friends. And to my surprise and joy, he eventually fulfilled my daydream by looking at me and he actually smiled. That smile made my heart almost jump through my untrimmed chest. I still don’t know what to call it, so I will call it love. It was love at first sight.
I couldn’t move and I could barely breathe; all I could do was stare at him. Even when he started to approach me, I couldn’t stop myself from watching him. But as I noticed him standing in front of me, I quickly looked around and instead focused my sight at a light in the background and acted as innocently as I could.
“Hi, I’m Nicklas.” He said charismatically and with a flirty smile. I almost hated him for that smile, as if that made things better.
After a while I overcame my nerves and introduced myself as Jonas, pretending to have had a hard time hearing what he said over the music so he wouldn’t notice how nervous I was. He didn’t seem to notice or if he did, he didn’t mention anything. Instead he started talking flirtatiously and I tried as I could not to overanalyze it. But I couldn’t ignore the signs forever; I eventually forced myself to realize the truth. This guy was actually into me. ME!!
We drank and flirted and when I was drunk enough to have calmed my nerves I could actually start let myself go, laugh and have a great time. We eventually kissed. I will never forget that kiss, it was really passionate. It was that first kiss all over again. Sparks were flying everywhere. I asked if he wanted to occupy one of the rooms. He seemed hesitant at first but the night quickly turned into a night of wild passion.
I woke up when a weight from the other side of the bed was lifted. But that means that someone is in the bed with me!?! , I thought. It wasn’t until I opened my eyes and saw a stranger’s room, a king-size bed, a book shelf with a lot of fictional books in it, red and black furniture and my new love of my life standing on the other side of the room that I remembered the day before. A smile appeared on my face and I started getting dressed.
But I soon noticed that the atmosphere was different than that passionate night earlier. It wasn’t even a nice feeling I got by being there. I looked towards my new love and noticed that he didn’t seem happy. Not remotely.
    “What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Nothing.” He answered with a rough tone. I knew that he was lying but I let it go. I got dressed and was about to ask when we would meet again, when I noticed it. On his bend of the arm, he had small punctures that were easy to miss if not looked closely upon. It looked like the marks of many, many pin-pricks. Immediately worried for him, I quickly walked towards him and grabbed his arm and carefully twisted it so I could get a closer look of the marks. But before I could look at it he violently withdrew his arm and hid the marks.
“What is that!!?” I asked, my voice truly worried and slightly panicked. His face immediately changed into the pure emotion of anger. It frightened me and before me wasn’t the love of my life. It was a stranger in disguise.
“Why do you even care!!? You are just a one night stand. Get it through that thick skull of yours. I DON’T LIKE YOU!! You were just a fast way to earn some cash from my friends.”
I felt how those words sank in and they almost ripped my inside in two. I felt confusion and betrayal that overwhelmed me and overrode my ability to think or talk for a couple of seconds.
“What?” I said pitifully, all the power and strength from my last question lost in my new emotion, despair.
“I slept with you to win a bet made by my friends. They said that I would never sleep with a guy, and then they chose the first guy they could find at the party and betted me that I wouldn’t sleep with him. That guy is YOU!” He made sure to emphasize every single word as he spit them out right in my face, like if I were a child.
My head was spinning and everything inside that I was feeling came crashing down. I didn’t know how to let it out so it was just mixed together into nothingness. Like a black hole, the love that I had felt was sucked in and then capsuled somewhere to later be brought up. For the moment I tried not crying like a girl even though it was extremely tough. Was I only a joke? A bet? He didn’t even choose me himself, he just flirted with me…he just made me love him so that he could crush it. All because of his friends…because of a bet.
Tears started to build up inside me but I forced all but one to stay inside. I wanted those tears to drown me from the inside. At least that was how I felt. When I just stood there, paralyzed, the former first love looked at me and then laughed harshly.
“You’re pathetic!! Do you know that?! What did you think, that we would start dating and that we would grow old together?! PATHETIC!!” he continued spitting out. It was like he had been brought in into my life just to destroy it. To crush it.
“Out!. I have to cash in from my friends. See you never.” He said and turned away and started getting dressed. I ran towards the door, opened it and slammed it with all my strength. It didn’t feel any better. Nothing did. I started running down the stairs and any looks I was given I ignored and anyone in my way I pushed aside. I heard Erika yell my name but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t handle anyone. It was like I was incomplete. That I had given away something that I would never get back. Something that was a part of me.
The rain pelted down heavily and I could barely see past a couple of steps in front of me. Not that I was looking. I just ran and soon I was wet through and freezing. But it felt good somehow, because it was something. Then I could feel something besides the pain and emptiness. Little did I know that this wasn’t the end of my misery.
A month had past and I was in a deep spiral of depression that was impossible to get rid of. I shut everyone out and didn’t let anyone in. Not even Erika. Now during the aftermath I wish I had, it could have helped me. But I lived, even if it wasn’t really a life to live. I also wish now that I had taken more use of that time. I got a call from the local care center after I had had a normal health check. They told me that the test results were in and that they had some bad news. The results from a blood sample had showed that I was HIV positive.

Neodraconis Short Stories Empty Re: Neodraconis Short Stories

    Post by Neodraconis Tue 8 Jan 2013 - 19:45

This is just a story told by a story about a storyteller telling a story. It takes place in a High fantasy world that I have been working on.

The tavern called "The Rusty Oak" was open and buisness was running high. The smell of blueberry-mead and burning wood from the crackling fireplace was filling the grand tavern. Inside it was warm and cozy, but outside, the storm was raging. People were laughing, the dwarves sang lullabies from their childhood, in chorus, both loudly and cheerfully after their long working shift fown in the mines. Almost all the tables were occupied by gnomes, humans and a blissful mixture of other creatures living throughout Kaitopia. But nearest the fireplace, an old man was sitting and on the floor in front of him sat a handful of children with excited looks on their faces. All eagerly waiting for the old man known as Cobel, and also as the town's best storyteller. He chuckled at the small children's excitment before he took a zip of the blueberry-mead. Then he started:

"This is about Búrgheir The Grumpy Giant and how he became so grumpy.

In the times before the great hunger (about 30 years ago where a lot of the population died because of extreme hunger and very little resources.), there was a giant, that lived in the cave on top of the Cath’ul Mountain. He was a very happy giant at the time, especially considering that he was alone and had no friends except his favorite sitting stone. But one day, the beautiful lady Faramona of the White Rose bloodline, had run away from the family castle down in the grand village of Edhiigburgh after an argument with her father. She didn’t want to marry the Prince of Anningham at the time, though we all know how that story ended."

The children laughed at the joke. The love story between Faramona and Prince Anningham was locally known of being one of the most complicated but hillarious love stories of all time.

”Anyhow, she had run up through that mountain when she reached the entrance of the cave occupied by the Giant Búghier. Because of her stunning beauty, Búgheir didn’t try to eat her; instead he tried starting a conversation with her, without much success since he only knew a handful of Universal words. He tried not looking in her eyes because he had a terrible curse that hadn’t sunken his spirit to live but had complicated things, like for him to gain any companions. You see, he was doomed to see everyone’s final moments before they pass on and join the gods, in the reflection of their eyes. But Faramona wanted eye contact with the giant so she better could understand by see his intentions in his eyes.“

Children gasped. One of them was about to ask something when Cobel answered the child, already knowing what he was about to ask

”No, no, it is not what you think. He didn’t look in to her eyes. You see, when she leaned forward to look him in the eyes, an object fell out of the bundle with the things she had quickly packed with her during her escape from home. It was a mirror. A beautiful mirror, made out of the most expensive minerals. But when Búgheirs eyes inevitably was seized upon the beautiful mirror, the reflection showed his ugly, giant mug, but more importantly, his eyes. The vision of how he would end his days drove him mad and during Búrgheirs rage, Faramona successfully fled the scene, but leaving her mirror behind. The giant’s rage is what we today call the big quake.“

"Wow..." The children said in unison, almost like in a trance. All their eyes fixated on the storyteller.

”And it is said, that ever since that day, Búrgheir is sitting on his favorite sitting stone, looking into the mirror and waiting for his faith to catch up with him."

Children appluaded, their eyes still focused on the old man, looking at him with admiration. Like he was a hero. But they soon went their seperate ways, hearing Cobel shouting after them.

"So remember, don’t be grumpy like Búrgheir, be happy!"

The story's good, but you keep flickering between first and third tense

Thanks! I guess I will have to watch out for that. I guess that and my grammar is what I have to work mostly on, to better my writing.

I hardly ever write in first person myself, haven't for years Nod Even when I've only got one narrating character so it'd make more sense to do so.

Here is two short stories that are kind of more like scenes from stories that I haven't really created, but, eh, whatever.

Silence fills the smelly alley. Then I hear the familiar, buzzing sound. A young guy, dressed in simple clothes of grey and black, appear from the green flash of teleportation light. He doesn’t land smoothly, as more experienced teleporters do. Instead he falls on his back and start groaning in pain and I have to remind myself to act professional, to restrain myself from laughing. I love teasing the new ones. But this is a meeting after all. The guy stand up and dust himself off before even noticing me. “Hello.” I say, testing the waters. “Hi.” my potential, future employer says while blowing away a strand of dark hair that was getting in the way. He seems to look cautiously around him, like he is waiting to get caught. I hear how his pulse is slightly elevated. Either he is nervous or he is attracted to me, possibly both. I can’t stop a small chuckle from escaping my small lips. “You are pretty new at this, right?” I ask. “Eh… No! What get you to say that?” he counters, with a shy amount of attitude. I start studying him and like if he were a book, I start checking off all the signs that he is lying. Defensive attitude. Check. Avoiding eye contact. Check. Stiff body movements. Check. I decide to go with an arrogant and confident style to sell my services.  “Well, for starters, you asked me to meet you in an alley, in the middle of the day.” I say, gesturing at the cloudy, but still bright sky above. “And secondly, your entrance wasn’t very gracious, so I would say you are not that trained, yet.” The young man starts to blush and I can’t help but grin. I then prepare for my final blow. “And then of course we have the fact that you can’t hide your emotions or hide that you want to jump my bones.” The man almost literally drops his jaw. It almost looks like he is about to get a heart attack, right here in the alley. But I know that my forceful attitude is exactly what is needed. So, I wait for the words that I know is coming. But when they do, I still feel a sense of accomplishment. “You’re hired.”

Tick. Tock. I look suspiciously at the potion in front of me. The clear red beverage that is eerily similar to the color of blood. I would know, I have both bled and made others bleed by my sword. But I know I need something to get through the day. The clock on the wall keeps ticking. Tick. Tock.  My body is shaking and the man in black robes across the table is calmly studying my movements and actions. Too calmly. “Drink it, it will make everything better.” The man says, trying to persuade me. I push my paranoia aside and focus on taking deep breaths, ignoring the almost irresistible urges that keep attacking the surface of my consciousness. I need it!! Breath in, breath out. I can’t take it anymore. It keeps ruining my life. I have to be strong!! Breath in, breath out. I adjust my breathing to the sound of the clock. Tick. Tock.  Quickly, before I can change my mind, I grab the bottle with my sweaty hands. I uncork the bottle with a plop. Immediately the familiar scent of decay hits me with a mixture of herbs I’ve never smelled before. He promised that the potion would stop the urges. My heart is beating faster and my instincts try to convince me to run. I’m not running from my past anymore. I take another deep breath before tossing back the potion, ignoring the bitter, salty taste. A burning feeling starts spreading through my body. The feeling of something devouring me from the inside out. I scream until my throat burn as intense as the rest of my body. I lose the grip of the bottle and it drops towards the floor. Crash! But everything I see is blurry and when I try to focus, to steady myself, my eyes starts to sting. He lied to me. All I hear is the sharp shattering of the glass and the pulsating sound of the clock. Tick. Tock. Suddenly I start to stumble and then I fall to the floor, but as in slow motion. The devouring burning sensation is suddenly replaced. Now I feel how my limbs go cold and how my energy evaporates into thin air. I lay on the ground, gasping after air, after consciousness as I drift off to another place, where all that exist is darkness. I hear the dark laughter of the man that promised me a life of redemption. And then the clock on the wall stops.
