Does someone with persuasion have to be face to face to use their ability or can they use it over the phone?

Interesting question. Eden tried to use it through a glass window and the effect was weaker, but I don't know if that was due to the glass blocking the effect or if it was due to Sylar. And she needed to meet Chandra to persuade him. So I'd guess over the phone wouldn't work.

i think it was because it was sylar, not the glass.

How about a video recording? Or would they need to be present, additionally would the person have to be looking at them or simply just be in the same room?

I don't think the person needs to be looking at her - didn't she persuade Isaac once by whispering in his ear, when he wouldn't have been able to face her directly?

Yeah, I kind of suspect that was similar to when he broke free of Doyle's power. But maybe the glass helped too.

If it's proximity which's necessary and not eye contact, I doubt a video recording would work either. And maybe they'd want to limit the ability's potential that way.

well i have a rough idea of that in someway.

Maybe it'd depend on individual limits, so Eden couldn't persuade via video/phone but someone else could. Or maybe someone could when augmented.
