We went there last year. It's really amazing.

But now we're thinking of loads of other places too, because Florence is a bit of a pain to get to. Apparently it has no airport, so you have to fly to Pisa and then go by train?

really? That sucks. Why not try venice instead?

We've been to Venice before. I'd like to go back, spend more time there, but apparently the autumn isn't the best time to visit. They get a lot of rain and sucky weather, and it makes the canals stink more.

I've heard it's really pretty Not sure what the weather's like though, or if it's a city break type place (that's what we're looking for). Think it'd be more of a summer holiday idea.

What makes you think Florence is for old people? From what I've heard it's pretty similar to Rome. We were thinking of going there for a day about ten years ago when we went on holiday to Tuscany, but Dad didn't want to drive there on crazy Italian roads with crazy Italian drivers in a hired car.
