After disembarking the plane, Teagan looked around the airport with wide eyes. So large and white and modern...... so alien to her. So far away from her old life. But then, hadn't she decided to leave that behind? She'd travelled all this way, to a new country and continent, to a new family which would replace her dead one. A new life in exchange for her old.

I shook my head and forced away those musings, picking up my case's handle again. I'd wheeled it out, left the terminal and hailed a cab before I realised that I didn't have anywhere to go. All I had was the last known address of my half-brother, somewhere in the city. Was I meant to just turn up on his doorstep and say "Hi. I'm your baby half sister" ? It sounded crazy. But then I couldn't really think of any method which wouldn't.

Deciding that I had to at least try, I gave the address to the cab driver. He didn't remark on it or ask any questions, just driving on in silence. Maybe it showed that I wasn't in the mood for small talk. I was still dwelling on the thought of meeting my brother, wondering what I should say and trying to guess how he'd react. I could still remember my own shock clearly, but then it'd been much more of a revelation to me, and a lot more had happened that day.

Far too soon, we'd arrived. I handed the driver his pay, and climbed out, trying to convince my legs not to shake. Strangely, I hadn't been nervous til this moment. But I was catching up on that fast. I walked upwards, climbing up a few flights of the apartment block. I had the number memorised. Moments later, I was knocking on his door, my heart hammering as I awaited an answer.

I continued to wait, getting to answer. I knocked again, but the silence remained. Slowly I began to realise that he wasn't there. Maybe he was just out at work, or I'd missed him or something..... I hoped so, anyway. That was better than chasing a red herring all this way.
