He's basically a woman hating jerk There seem to a lot of those in Whedon's villains. It's as bad as all the daddy issues.

Daddy issues?

Have you noticed that almost every father is either absent or crap? The fans think this means that Whedon has daddy issues himself.

I did think it's odd that there are mothers everywhere, but hardly any fathers, let alone decent ones

And most of the mothers seem to be crap too Joyce is the only decent parent really.

Darla didn't do badly with the mothering at the end Actually, Fred's parents were great tbf

Really mean of her - also, in the mental hospital episode, they had to believe Buffy was incredibly fucked up to kill her mother off and make her father abandon her
