It's called a kris, she corrected him at once, instinctively. And I.... can't explain how I knew that.... anymore than I could explain why I wanted it. I just saw it there and I couldn't not take it.
James frowned, and Eve immediately guessed that he was disapproving. For some reason, she then had to fight against the urge to defend her action. She couldn't explain that, either.
That draw.... and knowing what it's called.... you don't happen to know immediately how to use it, do you? he mused. Remember when we first raided Primatech, and you basically guessed how to use a taser and a gun?

When George finally got home, he expected to find Tara asleep, but instead, she was sitting on the sofa. She got up the second she saw him, a big grin on her face. She hugged George tightly for an entire three seconds before letting go and slapping him
What was that for?! demanded George, too exhausted to really register what was going on. Why did he get slapped?
Tara nearly exploded You've been gone for ages! Do you know how worried I was?! I thought you were dead - I thought I was going to have raise this baby on my own and have to tell him that he didn't have a daddy because he'd got his stupid head blown off his stupid shoulders trying to be a hero

That's stupid! was the first comment that came to George's mind and unfortunately for him, he voiced it.
Oh, really, George, really?! It's not like you've got any powers to protect yourself - if you got shot, you'd have died. I don't know why I let you go! She felt the tears she had been holding back for so long finding come but she tried to dismiss them, knowing that her words would be lost if she cried.
You know what, I did die. I did get shot, and guess what - I'm fucking fine. So don't go treating me like I'm an invalid!

You got shot?! screeched Tara, reaching breaking point. Finding out just how close she had really gotten to losing him was too much, the tears streaming from her eyes.
George found his words didn't come quickly, he found it impossible to talk when people cry, especially Tara.

He had so many things to shout, so many things he had had to tell her that he didn't move at first, just shouting. Tara didn't say a word, just staring at him with tears trailing down her face. When that became too much for him, he moved to kiss her, but she pulled away, unwilling to touch him

Realising he had no where to go, George lingered as he left the building. He considered going to stay with Danny and Elan, but didn't want to feel like he was imposing - he didn't want to have to put up with Pippy, which he would have to do at Boston's; plus, Grace was living in his spare room. That left either Misha or getting a hotel. Since he didn't have his card with him and barely had the fare for a cab, he walked to a bus stop. Whilst he waited for the bus arrive, the standard twenty minutes late, he phoned Misha to check she didn't mind him staying

We're all fine, but that name's already vetoed, we've too many Daniels already, she laughed. Even vetoing Danielle or Daniella for a girl.

As the days passed, nothing happened as simply as I'd planned. I'd persuaded Peter to teleport me out of the city within a few days, worrying that I'd begin losing control before I realised, and now I was staying in a small ramshackle shack we'd found in the middle of nowhere. Peter had insisted on staying with me. I hadn't been able to persuade him to leave me, despite all my efforts. I hadn't had the heart to actually force him to go.

It'd been days here, by now. Sometimes, I morbidly thought I could feel myself weakening, but I suspected that was my imagination, for now at least. I'd finally persuaded Peter to leave, so now it was just me and my thoughts. I had a lot of those. I'd wonder if I'd done the right thing, or if there'd been something I'd missed - apart from just not trusting Monroe, obviously.
