Maybe I haven't worked it all out yet. But you know me - it involves drama and angst She gets abducted by a villain and taken through time to use as a hostage so the villain can kill Jess, but the emotional strain makes her manifest just before she vanishes from existence. As a result, she's mimicked her brother's ability, and can re-exist in the new timeline to save Jess.
