Hello, I'm Phillippa. (Pause for applause) I am going to speak on the topic of whether or not children need strict discipline early on in order to become good citizens in later life. It is my believe that children rely on their parents to teach them the difference between right and wrong and that if left to their own means, the results could be disastrous.
As William Golding proved in his novel “Lord of the Flies”, when left to their own devices, children revert to their primal instincts and become savages.

Maybe mention that, however, that was fictional and therefore shows more of the writer's viewpoint? Or is it meant to be based on literature?

I don't think so, I was just told that I had to mention it, cos that's what we're studying :/ My title suggestion was far better - "Are Gingers Evil?" And that linked with Lord of the Flies, cos that bad guy is ginger

Great idea Maybe mention the whole nature v nurture debate, and whether discipline can have any effect or if the type of person someone will be is already determined genetically? Also the potential for too much discipline to drive someone to rebellion?

She obviously has But those are gingers within acts of fiction (or at least the characters are, though their RL actors are also ginger), and Pippy might be debating whether gingers are evil in reality. It could be a point JK Rowling was trying to make, though, in making a family of her heroes be ginger. In the same way Harry is a short little midget for most of the books
