Yeah it was, the series isn't living up to the hype for me though. How is everyone finding it so far? I hope the books cover the 5 year gap and let us know what happened to the original characters, the cover for book 1 and 2 are the newbies though so who knows.

Yeah, i don't know what to make of it. The acting isn't as good, the special effects are not as good though, but it has some essence to it its just taking sometime to build up.

However, I really do not know where they are going with the storyline. :/

That's weird. You'd think, if anything, special effects would get better as time progresses. Unless they just become too dependent on the CGI stuff and think that alone is enough. Now I don't know if I'm even gonna bother with the new series.

Episode 3 was a little better, they're starting to advance the plot now, or start it if that's more accurate. The effects are a lot worse than they were in 2006, even the flying effect was awful and they pretty much copied the exact movements from when a scene with Nathan in season 1. I don't think it's too dependent on CGI but more the cost involved. A factor in that is the fact that they really did film in a bunch of different countries this time instead of dressing up areas a few miles away from the studio.

If you're waiting for a uk airing (if/when that happens) instead of downloading it I'd say see how the reaction is later on than write it off now. I'm not enjoying it yet but at the same time it is getting better and it's too early to tell where it's going. The only problem is with 13 episodes they can't afford to spend episodes not doing much.

some parts do look promising however i'm still unsure. I think by episode 5 we will get a better understanding especially as malina will be introduced more.

I was actually thinking of buying the DVD boxset if it sounded good That's what I've been doing these last few years with other series, like SPN. I hadn't even thought of whether there'd ever be an UK airing.

well its only 13 episodes. i think it will be worth it, its just taking its time to get there

Only 13 episodes sounds like it doesn't have that much time to "get there" And when they're new, I don't think 13 episode series sell for much less than longer ones.

well some old characters will be introduced, and its a mini series. I suppose it can get there, game of thrones seem to do a lot in a season with just 10 episodes but i think the new episode (4) will explain much more.

Yeah, I knew they got some of the old actors back. There was a time it seemed like they were revealing a new old name every week

From what I've heard of GoT though, isn't it all action-heavy, loads happening all the time? That'd be why it could fit a lot in a 10 episode season. Heroes is more slowly paced. Or the original series was anyway.

I'm thinking of buying Alphas on DVD I was reading the thread about it in the TV show earlier and got nostalgic

we the prequel, dark matter introduces this character who can control shadows and she's at uni then goes to get work experience (or something) from a company called renautus. Meanwhile the worlds knows about EH's and they basically get id's declaring that they are evolved humans. Some people like them, some don't care and some people don't like them.

Anyway, she goes missing and her brother tries to find her however on June 13th at this evo (what they call EHs) exhibition a massive explosion occurs and Noah was there.

Basically the girls brother finds noah to try and find his sister, but noah's memory has been wiped and they try to find out what happened. Renautus is taking evolved humans and using them to channel their powers. (they have taken people like molly walker). So noah and the guy are trying to find out what happened on june 13th, meanwhile they find out some stuff along the way (spoilers).

Meanwhile there's a guy called tommy who finds out he can teleport things, but some guy is protecting him. (not too sure what his power is but he has a coin and gives it to people and it kind of wipes their memory ).

There a girl called malina, who has been kept in the artic having been told she will be safe there as a little girl and she will one day save the world. She can control the elements, creates norther lights, grows trees and whatnot but now is ready to start her 'mission'.

There another guy whose brother was this vigilante superhero, who was killed and he is following in his footsteps, but he doesn't have powers. He doesn't know that his nephew has powers tho.

Then there is this couple who are killing EH's because they went to the evo exhibition and their son died during the explosion/bomb thing. So they want to get revenge, however recently the guy finds out he too is an evo so his wife leaves him.

The events of july 13th aren't really known, but it is believed to be the works of terrorist evo's and suspect mohinder was behind it all.

There is also this girl in japan whose father is missing, she turns into a video game thing and finds out renautus is hiding something.

And that's pretty much it so far.

pretty much, they will start to tie in now I believe. But the main thing is the mystery of renautus and the events of july 13th.

It sounds a bit like Renatus is the new version of the Company Or what replaces it in the SL, if not a direct replacement in-world, anyway. And there's another explosion too!
