Wiki Disclaimer

I'm wondering now if we should honestly have a disclaimer on the wiki about copyright, given how we've taken abilities, characters and images from various films and TV programmes.

i cnt see we getting sued, although in an assembly, the teacher told us about how this guy got fined a crazy amount of money because he posted a link to a movie that had been uploaded online. He didn't even create the link or upload the video, just posted it.

i think it would be best, for legal reasons.

I'm just thinking of being safe Almost all youtube videos have one, so we could easily get the wording from there. And it wouldn't be suing I'd be worried over.

Rajan. The most technical disclaimers - which is what I'd use - are quoting a section of the Copyright Act which says copyright can be vetoed for "fair use", including personal entertainment uses, as long as you don't claim its your own original work or property. Using that wouldn't be copyright breach, it's quoting a part of the law.

Worrying about breaking the law, maybe? Like you mentioned, about that person being fined.
