Absolutely loved it I'm slightly amazed that I didn't cry more, though - my blinking trick must have worked wonders today. And I've a suspicion that I'm gonna have Can You Hear The People Sing? stuck in my head all week. At least.

Re: Les Miserables
I was surprised when people said they cried because I've gotta admit I didn't find it that sad. But I found the music put me off a bit because I found it kinda difficult to focus on the message because I was just a bit surprised by the whole "them singing" but Eddie Redmayne's Empty Chairs was fucking heartbreaking. Also, Jean Valjean is awesome and everything but I think people brush over the fact that HE BROUGHT A CHILD

Re: Les Miserables
Bought a child? The innkeepers were being paid to babysit her, he was just paying off her mother's debts Though these days it's kinda hilarious to imagine that they'd be able to let him take her without any checks, agreed.
I already knew it'd be a musical My gran had a video of a Westend production of it which I used to love watching every time I stayed with her.

Re: Les Miserables
She met him in a forest, he asked her name and she basically decided to live with him, even though he was being hunted by the police
Aww, that's cute I knew it was a musical but some of the songs just seemed really oddly placed

Re: Les Miserables
She didn't know he was wanted by the police And to be fair, he was a nice criminal He'd only stolen bread to save his starving nephew....
I cried during little Cosette's song, but I suspect most of that was from her mum's song just before. And I was nearly crying loads of times, like both Epionine songs and when that little boy got killed and Empty Tables. Heartbreaking.
I barely resisted bursting into song both times Do You Hear The People Sing? was, though And yeah, it is still in my head.

Re: Les Miserables
Yeah, he was great
Cosette I found irritating mostly because I don't like Amanda Whatsherface Oh, the boy dying was so unnecessary! He was just collecting shoes!
Wow! I've gotta admit I did join in on One Day More for a little bit

With the boy, I wanted to yell at all the revolutionaries to keep giving him jobs carrying messages to get him out of the fighting. I've also found myself singing One Day More once or twice this week

You can guess mine
Weirdly, the ending made me think of Forbidden and made me read my story again

Erm, like the fight-y one with the girls in the warehouse/factory thing and almost all of Cosette's songs seems odd

Re: Les Miserables
Aren't all of her songs duets or ensembles? I can't remember any songs adult her sings alone.
