After leaving The Lake again, Swift had swum out, finding herself in the sea. For days, she'd swam on, finding that she could manipulate the currents to push herself forwards. When she found land, it was a strange old volcanic landscape, but she had no idea where she was.

Gathering her courage, she swam closer, til she could see what was going on. There were 2 creatures on the shore. Her brain immediately registered one as a dragon, though she'd only seen paintings and heard descriptions of them before now. She wasn't sure for the second. He was some kind of humanoid creature, but she knew of loads of those.

Ulrin stared at a mermaid that approached him in awe, he had heard of Mermaids but never had the pleasure of meeting one.

Ulrin broke the surface and gasped as air filled his lungs once again. He searched round for the mermaid, he wanted to show Jet what he had found and for a panicked second wondered if she had swam off.
