The tremors intensified, until Ariana was literally throwing herself around the room in their grip, shaking and convulsing. Then they suddenly stopped. Her back was to Tannith, and she slowly opened her eyes, wincing in pain and acting as if she were blind.

Slowly, Tannith took hold of her shoulder and eased her around. Ariana's eye sockets were hollow and filled with blood. Her eyes seemed to have been burned out.

Shocked, Tannith could do nothing more than stare, amazed that something could be powerful enough to do such damage. The sockets had by now healed and were no longer bleeding, but her eyes were not returning. Ariana jerked her arm away, stepping back out of Tannith's reach, loathing on her face.

Tannith stood there, watching her leave. Even blinded, Ariana had no trouble, her other senses more than enough. Tannith wanted to pursue her, but she knew there was nothing she could do. She'd truly asked too much of the woman. Eventually she returned to the main house.
