When it came to final period, Gracie settled into her seat in the middle row and she was one of the last to arrive. However, she still beat the new teacher - Mrs Barker, their old Physics teacher, had left on maturinity leave. The new guy walked in, set down his briefcase, and proceeded to write 'Mr Harper' on the chalkboard

Hi, class. My name is Mr Harper, I'll be your new teacher. Gracie managed to stay interested for several minutes for once - Mr Harper was in his mid-to-late-twenties, with ruffled dark brown hair, and even darker eyes. He was tanned, and stood around 6ft. He was broad shouldered and even though his light grey suit it was easy to tell he was very muscular. In simplistic terms, he was too attractive to teach

The girls around the class all seemed to peak interest in this subject, as he went around scanning the class quickly. He spent a few seconds looking at every pupil, except Gracie. He point blank ignored Gracie. She wasn't.. offended, as such. Why would anyone have any interest in her? she thought to herself, sighing a little

I've looked through the work you did with Mrs Barker, and I must say, I'm far from impressed. You seem to be doing work fit for Middle School The whole room collectively sighed at that. He might be attractive, but he sure appeared to be a hardass. He stopped talking then, and set them a pop quiz to see how much they knew on the theory of realitivity. He collected the papers in, half way through the lesson, and set them each an expertiment to do. Grace had barely written three words for each of the 40 questions on the paper, and when it came to the experiment, she got out a little of the equipment and sat down. Should anyone ask, she'd say she was confused.

Matthew Harper didn't notice - he was too busy marking the papers. He graded each of them, and finished just as the bell rang. He dismissed the class quickly, but just as Lily prepared to rush out of there, to go back home and seek solice in the fact that she had survived another day, he called out her name. A word, please

Yes? she asked, her tone far from polite or enthusiastic.

I want to know what's wrong with you, Miss Bradley, he said, slowly. She looked up at him, once looking back down at the desk again.

What do you mean? she said, blankly.

Your test, he replied, passing the paper back to her. It had an A written on it in a big red marker pen.

What about it? she asked, her tone still dead from boredum, it seemed.

Miss Bradley, you wrote less than 3 words for all the questions, and you managed to get an A - two marks off an A*. You scored the highest out of the entire class. Which means that you are obviously highly intelligent, you have no difficulty with the subject, and you could succeed at it with the very little effort you obviously put into this work. I would merely want to understand why

She blinked at him - she had decided somewhere in the middle of his speech that she didn't give a shit what he thought, or anyone else So you're saying I did exceptionally at a test you expected everyone to fail and you want to know why I didn't try harder. How are you so sure that I didn't try really hard?

Oh, yeah? she asked, drily. This guy seemed like a first grade nerd. Sure, he was hot, but he didn't seem to have cared about anything except his studies.

I'm only trying to help you, Miss Bradley. Something's gone wrong for you. I don't know what it was - your parents fighting? Fallen out with some friends? A new boyfriend? he asked. She didn't reply, she just blinked at him once more. He held his tongue mentioning her ability - he didn't know if she knew, if he would scare her by mentioning it.

Are we done? she asked, rolling her eyes.

Sure, go, he sighed, gesturing for her to leave, as he began to sort through his papers.

And Mr Harper? she called from the door. He looked up, slightly surprised she was still here.

Yes, Grace?

He opened his mouth to say something, but she cut across, dropping her bag and walking back over to the front desk, sitting lightly on it

I don't know why.. he just said we needed to see other people, that it was too serious and.. She could already feel herself beginning to cry, and she started to curse herself. Why was she even talking to him? He was a teacher - she was about to start crying, in front of a teacher

Hey, hey, he said, reaching and lifting her chin up so he could look into her eyes. It'll get better, I promise

I don't want it to get better.. not without him, she whispered, still mentally insulting herself. How was she telling him this?!

(I'm guessing he has an ability to persuade people to confide in him, as well as the ability sensing?)

Most people.. he began, his tone still gentle.

I'm not exactly most people! she snapped back at him, annoyed.

What do you mean? he asked, and she shook her head. She was stupid and vulnerable, but she wasn't going to tell that one. Do you mean your power?

( I've seen his page, now *waits for her to freak out*)

What..? How did you..? she asked, slowly. She stood up and began to slowly back away towards the door again, prepared to deny it and run.

Because I'm like you, he whispered, although his voice carried well across the room. He stood up, and gestured out the window. What had seconds ago been a cloudless sky was now covered in thick grey clouds, lightening brewing already.

That was.. you? she asked, her tone disbelieving. He smiled at her, and moved back over to her.

Don't worry, Gracie, he said, gently. He didn't even notice he had slipped into calling her Gracie, but she smiled up at him. Everything'll be okay

She should have been bothered by the fact he was standing much too close to her to be correct, especially for a teacher, but she didn't mind. For once, in what felt like years, even if it had only been weeks, she was happy. She felt good, she felt calm

Thank you, she whispered, looking up into his eyes. It was then that it dawned on her that this was still her new teacher, and she smiled brightly at him, while awkwardly trying to get through the door with pushing herself up against him

No problem, he replied, moving back a little to let her leave. Oh, and Gracie?

She turned around when he called her name, and clasping her face gently in his hands, he kissed her

The kiss was gentle, at first, very tentative, as he wondered if she was going to pull away, but when she didn't, he pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her, leaning slightly against the wall. She only saw fit to stop him when his hands began creeping underneath her shirt. She pulled away hurridly then, breaking all contact with him

We shouldn't have.. It's not.. she stuttered a little, before stopping. She held no obligation to Spike - not anymore.. so why did she still feel guilty?

(cause he's her teacher? )

On her way back from work, Lola stopped at the nursery to pick up the twins. She'd have stayed off longer if she'd had the option, but unfortunately, normal maternity leave had been up. And they needed the money, really. Mark had convinced her not to enroll the 2 at the same nursery where she worked, telling her she was being a little paranoid and clingy. She knew he was right, deep down, but she was still worried, and she couldn't help herself from gushing as she now scooped the 2 up.

We're not like normal people, he reminded her, his tone soft and seductive. Why should we pretend to be?

She paused to think about that one, only for a moment. It was wrong.. but whatever the hell this was couldn't make high school any worse. They wouldn't get caught, so where was the harm? It's not like she was seeing anyone. I guess.. but not now, okay?

He shrugged concedingly, and turned his back to her as she left, not saying another word
