He continued to listen, and that second voice began feeling more and more familiar, the more he heard. Suddenly, in a flash, he realised that he did recognise it. It was the girl's father! From official reports, the two were meant to be nearly strangers, only having met the once, so there had to be something suspect in this clandestine meeting.

Frustrated, he tried to listen harder, tried to will one of them to stupidly admit something which'd give away their guilt, or some explanation as to how both had perfect alibis. What he heard was something else. Something much less convenient. The father had just instructed the step-father to check the door again. Hastily, Tyler moved away, trying to get enough distance to hide his presence before the door opened. He knew, however, from the man's face that he hadn't succeeded, sheer suspicion and aggression filled it completely. Changing his plans, he readied a shockwave in his palm, released it.

It hit him directly, but instead of watching him fall backwards, Tyler could just stare in shock. The man did fall backwards.... but then he blurred, somehow. And then suddenly there were 5 of them standing before him. One had fallen unconscious, hit by the blast, but there were 5 more. Each completely identical to the other.

Wayward Daughter wrote:The next day, Layla had reported the attack on her family to the others in Fallon Industries, though she kept silent about her eldest daughter's manifestation. There was no proof, but still everyone felt certain it'd be the same as the sabotaging group. The thought of the old contact, back in his apartment, was now burning in Drew's mind. Too risky, too little chance of success... that's what they'd said. That's what they'd decided. But he'd still kept it, and kept silent about it. And now...
Wayward Daughter wrote:It was a reckless idea. He knew that. And it wasn't like him - normally, he found it much easier to follow orders, follow the lead - but this time, this idea has clung to him, despite how it'd been rejected. He just knew it'd work, and he knew he was the only one able to pull it off.
Following an insane burst of spontaneity, he'd acted upon it. Quickly, immediately, before any sense could catch up with him and stop him. Their reply had been swift, too, and had just instructed him on where and when to meet his first contact within this new group. He was waiting there now.

His training kicked in, however, made him push his confusion to the back of his mind and just aim another blast at each of the duplicates. At the same time, he turned to dodge the nearest's retaliatory punch, moving an arm to block another. Only one more had fallen. Still four left. He continued to fight, losing himself in it, losing all thought of everything else. Just completely focused on the fight. He had to incapacitate these, had to capture them.

As he waited, Drew looked around curiously, though there wasn't much to note. He was outside a completely unremarkable office block, modern and only a few years old. It was the kind of place he'd never have been able to pick out if he hadn't been directed towards it. After a few minutes, he was approached by someone, a young man.
Drew Ackerley? he asked, and Drew nodded. The man still didn't do anything though. Not until Drew remembered more, and began reeling off the passcodes he'd been given. As he finished, the man beckoned for him to follow him and began walking off again.

That man led him forwards, on a twisted and convoluted route through the streets. Drew couldn't decide if this was to lose any possible tail, or to make sure he wouldn't be able to remember the way in future without help. Or both. Twenty minutes had passed before his guide finally slowed, standing outside yet another unremarkable office building which was almost indistinguishable to the first. He slowed only a fraction. Heading inside, he pressed various codes into various sets of keypads, each time making certain that his shoulder blocked Drew's view completely.

It took a while, but eventually he had six unconscious figures lying before him. Suddenly, they seemed to shimmer, and five of them faded away until they'd disappeared completely, leaving only one behind. He summarised that this one had to be the original. Cloning, it had to be. It was rare for them to encounter others with powers like theirs, but it did happen occasionally.

Re: World 12: Spies - RP Thread
Laura sighed heavily. She tried to figure out some way that she could contact Tyler or help him without ruining it, but caame up empty. She couldn't call, obviously. She couldn't request back-up because that could too make things worse. George sighed as well, both looking worried.
Neil had gone to another session and before he drove home, he sneaked in to the computers. He saw George and Laura and looked away. He didn't belong there, not anymore. He wonder where Tyler was though, probably out somewhere and the others just sitting and waiting. He snapped out of his thoughts and focused on the computer. He had succeeded in convincing an agent that he was back on the field but had missed the password change.
So he logged in with the new password and then started searching for his nemesis. He took all the information that he could gathered and printed. It was then he saw George who had noticed him. He quickly dove under the table but it was too late. But, weirdly enough, when he looked up, George was looking back at Laura and they were talking. Soon, Neil's phone vibrated. A text! Neil looked at it. It was from George. It said: "Don't do anything stupid." Neil lay the phone back in his pocket and then took the printed documents and erased the history of what had been printed on the computer. He sneaked away to his car and drove home.
As soon as he entered his apartment, he cleaned away everything from his table by taking his arm and pushing everything down on the floor. He then lay every piece of document on the table and started analyzing. With some tape and a marker pen, he started drawing lines. Lines of connection.

With that realisation, things began making sense. The man would have cloned himself to abduct the girl, leaving another clone to give him the perfect alibi. He knelt beside the unconscious figure and cuffed it, then carried it downstairs to where the van was parked. He'd tried calling Laura and George again but the contacts were still off.

He secured the captive in the back of the van, then drove them both back to HQ. The other man - the father - would be reported and arrested separately, tomorrow probably. They'd both be questioned to find wherever they'd hidden the girl.

Eventually, the guide paused outside a doorway. He indicated his head towards it, gesturing that it was the one Drew should go through, then left. This time, he moved at such a speed that he seemed to turn into nothing but a blurring trail. Drew blinked at that, registering that the man had only traveled more slowly before in order to make sure he wasn't lost, and forced himself to knock once on the door, heavily. A gruff voice answered, instructing him to come in. He did.

When Tyler entered the HQ, both Laura and George faced lit up. He had made it! George slammed Tyler's back friendly and Laura nodded as professionally as she could.
Back at home, Neil's table was beginning to fill with blue and red lines, made by the marker. Blue was cold traces that often ended in dead ends. However, he had followed one of the red lines and it was when he drew that one last line that he saw it. His nemesis had probably gone back to one of the first kills he had attempted, just because everyone would think that that would be the most stupidest thing to do. The line had ended on a murder that had been done a couple of years ago that Neil thought fit this guys profile. Could it be that his nemesis was in Barcelona...?

I got them, he reported, grinning slightly. Two - the father and stepdad, both. One of them could clone himself.

Laura dropped her professional exterior for a second and got the most hillarious face ever. A mixture of surprise and dissapointment, before quickly "becoming" professional again. "I'm sorry I missed it.", she said smiling.
Neil didn't waste any time. He quickly packed his bag and drove to the airport.

(There was me expecting Neil to conveniently manifest some sort of teleporting ability as his third )
Yeah, what happened with the coms there? he asked, though keeping any hint of accusation out of his voice. He wasn't suspecting her of any sabotage, just wondering what had failed.

(To be honest, I had totally forgotten about Neil's third unmanifested ability. )
Laura seemed to think back before answering. "I have no idea, maybe something messed up the signal. Probably a device he had planted at that point just so that no one would track him. He seemed kind of paranoid, right?"

Neil took the necessary steps towards his car and then drove of towards the airport. Everything went smoothly and soon he was sitting on the plane. The hardest part was to relax, once on the plane. He just wanted to end this, so that everything could get back to normal.

(I only remembered when I checked his wiki page )
That's a possibility, he nodded. Or he could have done something power-wise to block it... Do we have any measures against that? Either of them?
