The man came. He was tall, battle-scarred, with a mask covering one eye, and a lit cigarette in his mouth. He looked down at her strangely.
What would you want with that, kiddo?
I....I need information, to catch vampires. The new ones, the ones which kill....I have to stop them.
Why?
I've seen one too many dead bodies, mister.
He nodded.
How would you not end up another?
I know how to kill vampires. Charmed weapons, destroy the heart or head. Then dismember the body and burn it.
He nodded. There was something, in the intensity of her gaze, which made him believe her. She reminded him of his protege, years ago, asking to still become a hunter after his parents' murder. That same intensity had filled the boy's pale violet eyes that day, the hatred transforming them into an adult's eyes beyond his mere 13 years.
Ok. You can have them. I have a feeling you know what you're doing, girl.
