Brill! Glad you finally posted another one, this is really good. I love the isolated feel of the story, East and Westside so non-specific, it feels like the story could be taking place anywhere.

No, it's an idea I have, shows how the Eastside culture views women. I deliberately tried to hide the location, since I feel I do end up villifying the Eastsiders.

By not mentioning it, it devalues her. She does have one

Yeah. Thank God. There was a whole 2 months where ym MSN didn't work, and when I signed back on, I had a million offline messages, asking why I hated the BBC and who Jakey was.

Re: Forbidden - Complete
Westside, 2456
She swallowed. Somehow, she'd expected that the half a decade which had worn her away so, would have had no effect on him. But it seemed that he hated her. No, not hated. That would have almost been better, easier. Beyond the ice, she could see that same pain she'd tried to avoid seeing when she'd said her goodbyes."Sean....." again, she swallowed. Suddenly, she didn't have an idea how to answer. "I'm sorry."
"Sorry?"
She forced herself to look up at him, to look him in the eye.
"Can I come in?"
He didn't answer. But neither did he stop her when she stepped inwards.
She looked around, taking in the room to delay the time she'd have to face Sean again. The place hadn't altered much in 5 years. Nothing had really changed. Nothing at all. Not the room or the shiver which was running down her spine.
"I'm sorry," she apologised, once again. Unsure really what she was apologising for the most: the past, or what she was planning. "I shouldn't have...."
"You had to, Rún. We had no choice. I know now, we were fools for trying."
She shook her head.
"No. I....I needed what we had. I....I still do......"
Even though it's impossible.
He stared at her. Either sensing what she hadn't said, or knowing that himself. Eastside, Westside, there was no hope for them. No life which could possibly intertwine. Nothing but stolen moments.
Silently, he walked up to her, drawing her into his arms. She rested her head against him. Glancing up to his face, she shivered, once more rethinking her decision. But she couldn't turn away. Not now. Not when she'd come this close.
She acted before she could lose her nerve. Reaching up, she pulled him to her, pressing her lips to his. One arm wrapped around him, pinning him in place. It was different this time. Urgent, fiery, passionate. She thought he must be able to taste the hatred within her, but if he could sense it, he didn't say anything. Or perhaps he'd just decided to give her what she needed.

That is amazing, Low!!!! I still don't get the history of the Eastside Westside bit... has it been explained, yet? Or is it just... two sides of... a town? fighting?

Re: Forbidden - Complete
I don't know if I've really explained it yet
Basically, Eastside is one culture, which has invaded and taken over several different regions, making the natives second class citizens. The natives live in Westside, the western side of the city. And some of them started a resistance, the Westside Alliance, to fight against the Eastsiders and help other Westsiders.

Re: Forbidden - Complete
Westside, 2456
When Rún woke early the next morning, it was like emerging from a dream. Reality struck her with the bright sunlight leaking through the broken window blinds. She really hadn't changed. Fooling herself, as always. But she didn't know if there was any way she could be otherwise. To hope that they could live like this was false. And she couldn't face her own life without it.
Sighing, she forced herself to rise, glancing over at the form of Sean beside her, still fast asleep. She didn't want to leave. But she had to. Turning her back, she redressed herself, preparing to exit. Almost as an afterthought, she remembered her mask, and spotted it lying on the floor beside the bed, where they'd thrown it last night. She reached down to pick it up, and placed it over her face, reaching behind her head to tie the strings. She hesitated. She realised now that she didn't want to leave Sean with nothing, almost as if this had been no more than a dream. They might be chasing a fantasy, true, but it was real.
Slowly, she dropped her hands, letting the mask fall away. She'd had enough of pretending. Enough of hiding her feelings, claiming she didn't care. For once, she'd show her face.
As she walked out, a single ray of sunlight fell through the door and onto the bed. It illuminated her sleeping lover, and the discarded mask left beside him.
.............................................................................................................................................................................
Fiorr Manor, Eastside, 2456
Reaching her home, she raced in, hoping against hope that she would meet none. It was more than her apparel that she was hiding this time. She was certain that what had happened, what she'd done, the crime she'd committed, must be written all over her face. It had meant so much to her, she couldn't believe that it wouldn't be obvious.
But she managed to reach one of her withdrawing rooms safely, and lock herself in there. Her breath escaped her in a sigh. Her emotions threatened to overwhelm her, as she struggled to keep her breathing calm. Her heart was thundering. Forcibly, she calmed herself, burying those emotions deep down within herself. In the only place she could risk to feel.
The day passed, turning into a week, turning into a month. She tried to resist. She told herself that her revenge was done, that it'd be foolish and cruel to return to Westside and to Sean. But still, she felt herself drawn to him, a very magnetic force. She physically could not stay away. And so, every few nights, she'd find herself sneaking out, and returning the next morning, her heart as high up in her throat as it had been the first time.
