World 7 idea

I've realised now that my new characters' SL doesn't tie in fully to the future as we've described it. It needs some kind of device or ability to control people's minds, and those couldn't exist in the original future or they'd be used to stop the slaves from trying to escape and to stop them fighting back. Our original plan was that Troy eventually sees what they need to change in the past to evade this future. What if instead, they change things only in a way which leads to the new mind control future? They could later find a way to destroy the mind control technology, I just don't want to have to undo the damage already done to my other characters.

Any ideas of how Troy wouldn't see it failing though? See the alternate danger? Maybe it'd still be the best case scenario.

Like maybe if currently the slavery and imprisonment is gonna be global, affecting thousands if not millions of people. In this new future, the mind control is only used on a handful of victims before it's discovered and shut down. However, it's impossible to reverse what's already been done, and those people are permanently programmed to kill other EHs.

How soon (after the prison raid, obv) would you want Troy to be guiding them to altering the future? I need to know before I introduce the Riordans in that world, because I don't want to bring them in too prematurely. They should ideally appear just before things alter.
