The Prologue
Hetty Bork was two years old when her mother died. She knew almost nothing of her mother’s death at that time- too young to know that the red splatters on the sink was not from her father’s re-decorating.
It was May the 13th 1989 when Kerry Bork had ‘died’. Dave had claimed that she had slipped on getting out of the shower, and cracked her head on the sink. But Kent Bork, her seven year old son, knew better.
Dave and Kerry’s marriage had been going downhill since the birth of Hetty. Dave had threatened and beaten Kerry, claiming that he was more than she, a mortal, could ever be. Kerry of course thought that her husband was insane. Dave had always wanted a baby girl. But Hetty was not made by a good night and smiles, but by tears, blood and begging.
This is her story. The story of her mysterious past, her half-mad father and the cracks running through her mind. The worrying, the pleading and the disadvantage of having a power-crazed father.
This, is her life.
