Cool chapter. Can I ask where the ispiration for the name Anya came from?

The only Anya i know of is out of Buffy. Lol. Do like the name tho. X

Just interested. The Anya in my miniseries came from a videogame, it's just always interesting to see where these things come from. Nice name too.

"What am I not?"

Anya didn't answer, she simply shook her head. She'd been speaking more to herself earlier, and hadn't expected him to reply, lost in her own realisation. But the evidence was now obvious.

"No, you are," she murmured, only half-aware of his continuing presence. He was watching her, becoming more confused and suspicious with each passing second. Anya, meanwhile, was deliberating whether or not to tell the boy. Sure, he ought to have the right to know.....but how could she possibly even start to explain it all?

She sighed, raising her head. Somehow, she would have to explain it.

"You're not what you believe you are," she began. "Not an Eastsider."

"What do you mean?!" he argued, incensed. "I am! How could I not be? I am Darnell Fiorr, son of Arann Fiorr....."

"But you're not."

He simply stared at her, silently mouthing the questions he couldn't voice.

"Your father....your real father... was an old friend of mine. He was....like me," she took a breath, forcing herself to take this next risk. "A fellow of the member of the Westside Alliance, like your mother is."

She paused then, watching his reaction.

"Are you telling me I'm a Westsider?" he asked. There wasn't any anger in his tone anymore. That had been replaced with shock and denial, both also painted upon his face.

She nodded.

"You must have realised on some level......you don't belong here," she gestured around them. "I know your mother realised herself."

He was silent.

"You have to accept this, Darnell."

Again, silence. He was mouthing like a goldfish for several minutes before he could speak.

"My father.....what was he like? What happened to him?" What was his name? Darnell thought; he didn't even know this most basic fact.

She sighed.

"He.... I'd known him for 25 years, since he first joined the WA. His name was Sean O'Brien. He was one of the best and bravest men I'd ever met. A father you should be proud of, Darnell."

He glanced down, wondering how he could be proud of a man he hadn't met, a complete stranger. But then, he hadn't known those he'd considered his family previously, either. Eastside culture meant that he, like all others, had been raised mostly by the family servants and only paraded out on formal occasions.

"What do I do now?" he asked at last. He was completely lost; his sense of identity had been shattered to pieces in the last half an hour.

"Where's Rún?" she questioned. Seeing his blank look of confusion, she explained. "Your mother. That is her name in Westside."

"I don't know....I don't see much of her, either of my parents. But I believe I heard her leave, approximately 2 hours ago."

Anya bit her lip, worrying what could have happened to her friend. She'd have been in no state of mind to have fled the house. She wasn't sure what the woman would do

Thanks. I'm not quite sure yet where she's gone, I've a few basic ideas. She really just ran. And he had to die cause it's a tragedy

Remember before I started this, I told you I had an idea for a story which had tragic aspects, and I wasn't sure whether to give it the happy ending or a more realistic tragic one?
