World 8 - Brave New World

Having never really thought she'd get married, Naomi had no real clue what she wanted at her wedding. She met with several different wedding planners before settling on one called Ivana, who seemed to understand her situation. They hadn't set a date for the wedding, but Naomi was certain she didn't want to wait too long - they hadn't exactly waited long for the proposal, why wait for the wedding? She selected Rhia has her maid of honour and Hanna a bridesmaid. Journey and Dustin were to be page boys, and Jess a flower girl. Peter was obviously Nathan's best man and she was going to walk herself down the aisle. She avoided thinking about it, Riley was meant to walk her down the aisle.

Ivana set to work organising dress fittings and catering, she allowed Naomi and Nathan to choose the flowers, the wedding invitations were all sent out, a church chosen and a reception location selected. Honestly, Naomi didn't find it too hard and was about to wonder why people always said how much work went into planning a wedding when she remembered that she wasn't exactly most people now. Hiring one of the top event planners in New York isn't what most couples do.

After she froze, the entire scene was silent, still. It could have been a photograph. Slowly, though, one man stepped forwards - one gang member who'd been a little more cautious and had hung back while all the others perished. The ice crackled beneath his feet as he walked up to Tracy. She didn't move. She couldn't. She gave no sign of registering his very presence. Reaching smoothly for the holster beneath his jacket, he shot one bullet into the statue, right in the chest, just in case. The ice shattered.

It was obvious that she should move in with Nathan - his place was bigger, more practical and honestly, a hell of a lot nicer. She started packing up her things, but it managed to take nearly a whole week, despite her not owning that much stuff - it all boiled down to, "remember how that stain got there?" and "remember the time the fire alarm went off?" and a whole load of other stupid memories. Despite all of the horrible memories, she had loved living here - both with and without Jeanette.

When she was finally all packed up, it took nearly three trips to get all of her stuff over to Nathan's and that's about the point that she realised quite how stupid a lot of her stuff was. Nathan had a proper apartment, a grown up apartment. There was no real place for the swords she had proudly placed on the wall on the first day she had moved into her apartment. Posters of bands she no longer liked but didn't want to throw out. In the end, she decided to rent a storage locker and kept a lot of her junk there. Because junk or not, it appeared too painful to separate herself from the brightly coloured lamb doorstop that she couldn't even remember buying.
