Avril drove straight threw the small town she was stopping at and into the woods. People noticed the missing hikers, but less than they missed people abucted in the middle of the town in the middle of the day. When she got into it, and heard the heartbeat, she smelt the blood.

Tannith stopped at yet another small town, yet another in an endless line of ones she would pass through. She walked around, then noticed the nearby woods. She headed into them, thinking that it'd be cool, shady there. The heat of the day, almost noon, was starting to make her feel ill. She was not thirsty. She'd been lucky recently, and had succeeded in stealing a shipment of blood donations. It was so much easier that way, without the temptation of drinking too much, she mused. She walked on. She sensed the presence of another vampire, and headed towards it.

Avril heard the footsteps, and the footsteps didn't belong to a human. It had to a vampire, but what was a vampire doing here? She bent down, ready to pounce.

The woods opened up into a clearing, she saw the vampire there, bent over a corpse. Tannith stopped, holding her hands up in a gesture of nonharm.

Yeah. Humans who know about us, they hunt us. They know ways of killing us too. I thought it was impossible, until I saw it happen. I've been hiding from them, since. They don't know that there's .....another way for us to be.

This was all new to Avril, she had never known of these humans, never of another way to live. She had been on her own, from Day One. Yeah, I've heard, there are some of us who live of animal blood. I've tried it, but.......yuck. That's all I can say. I sort of.......snack instead of eating meals, if you understand.

Yeah, I can show you. You have to be careful though, not to let your teeth cut them or they'll turn. I use my nails. And it's hard too, not to drink too much. So when I can, I steal blood donations. I have a few stored away still, if you want........

Yes. It's hard though......I had to find the vampire who turned me, and drink his blood, then I could sort of control myself easier. But I'll show you. And pull you away if you take too much.

I don't know. It makes it easier, but I've heard that others manage to do it without, on just willpower. It's amazing. And you don't have to kill, a mouthful will do. Otherwise I could never have done it......
