I also didn't like his regeneration. They dragged it out too long. It'd been better if he'd just regenerated fully when he destroyed the Daleks, and had the new actor appearing when Clara found him again. The other timelords' help was cool though. Did they send spare regenerations through the gap? How convenient

The Time Of The Doctor
I've kind of mixed feelings about this. I liked how they tied up all the past storylines about the Silence and Trensalore, and finally finished that lot (it is all explained now, right?). Generally, that stuff is confusing me eternally. It just lasted so long, you forget some of the details, if Dr Who isn't something you keep rewatching.

I tend to just go with it. I'm too tired to think of how things often make no sense any more. Perhaps plot holes and confusing bits can be sorted out later on anyway? I'm just glad there'll be much more Doctor Who.

Re: The Time Of The Doctor
Yeah, they were definitely not going to finish with the last actor since it'd gotten so popular, international now as well And the explanation they gave was good too. We don't know how many additional regenerations he was given, so it could be an excuse for as many new actors as they need.
They've just started making plots which last for 2 or 3 or 4 seasons, unlike the usual 1 season. I then find it hard to follow and remember it all. It's less plotholes and more me not remembering if they are any or not.

Re: The Time Of The Doctor
Aye aye. Great, that. I think he has a new regeneration cycle which means another 12 regenerations so another 13 incarnations.
I lose track of things too. I just go with it or ask my brother. He's a Doctor Who expert, classic and new. And a Star Trek one, and a weapons one and a skyscraper one and a tennis one and quite a few other things too. He's handy to have around.

Sounds useful
13'd make sense Think they'd use the same excuse again if it lasts that long, or come up with something new by that time?

It's also highly annoying. He has to correct everyone on everything and is confused as to why we don't know things that are obvious to him. Blehhh.
I have no clue. Hopefully they'll think of something unless the series has started failing before then.

Ok, yeah, that sounds insanely annoying How long has he done it? Is there any chance he'll hopefully outgrow it?

He's been doing it since before I left here. I don't think he'll grow out of it though. It's part of who he is now. Sigh.

Re: The Time Of The Doctor
I didn't mind Matt Smith's swansong since it finally tied up all the crazy plot developments of his era I did think the fact the Time Lords simply give the Doctor a new regeneration cycle a bit of a cop out but I can generally say the excitement I have for series 8 and the start of the Capaldi era I have not had since the Tennant era lets hope its good

Re: The Time Of The Doctor
How else would they have excused the new regeneration (and any future ones) though? They did need some explanation. It would have been ridiculous to expect them to quit now because they'd reached a limit that had been set decades ago.

Re: The Time Of The Doctor
To be honest I still don't see the meta crisis thing to be a true regeneration and even though it has been established to be so still don't think so mainly as I think Moffat having failed to secure Christopher Eccleston for the 50th and therefore introduced a new doctor just though well we may as well just say it counted so I can be the producer who gets to say how he's gonna keep going now that his regenerations have been used up I would have been more than happy to see Capaldi as the final regeneration of the original regeneration cycle mainly due to the fact he is much darker from what we are aware so far and many interesting plotlines could be established from this such as how the Valeyard has come to be a possibility of showing the Doctor succumb to a more darker nature such as him attempting a number of ways to lengthen his own life but ahh well can't have everything.
