My thoughts were interrupted as I heard Peter coming closer to me, wrapping an arm around my waist. I turned to face him.
We will save you, he reassured me, seeing the worry clear in my expression. I hadn't been doubting that.... not exactly. I couldn't deny that I wasn't still worried, though. Wasn't still afraid.

Raising my head, I pressed my lips gently to his, accepting the reassurance he was trying to offer. My arms twined tightly around him, my hands resting against his back. I closed my eyes, letting myself fall into his grasp and into the kiss, forgetting all those worries, all those questions.

Reluctantly, I eventually pulled away, letting him go. I didn't want to leave, but I knew I'd have to.... I had to go find out. That'd be the only way forwards.

I stopped when I was a few miles away, but still in New York. I realised then that I didn't really know how to contact Sable. I didn't know where she lived, I didn't have a number... bizzarre, really, when she was my own daughter. And I hated the fact that I was contacting her to ask for a favour, a risky one at that. But then suddenly, the reason for my previous surrender attempt returned to me, and I realised that I'd need to contact her anyway, to warn her. I decided to head for the resistance HQ of sorts we'd created, hoping someone there would know of her and be able to get in touch.

Kaylee couldn't say she had a plan of what to do, but she seemed completely unfazed by this as she waited for Daphne to show up. When she did, Daphne looked around, hoping to see Pippa or someone she recognised. As Kaylee approached, Knox flexed his muscles trying to gain some strength from her fear. Kaylee, however, appeared to be delusional enough to be able to face some of Pinehearst's best without any sense of doubt or fear

He still looked questioning, but did as I asked, and dialled a number, being careful to hide it from me. They spoke only for less than a minute.
She says she'll meet you, he answered me, shrugging. Don't have a clue why.... all she needed was the name, like you said. She said you'd know where.

Kaylee held her tongue for a second, thinking quickly. What was she going to say? To say my dead brother? None of your business, responded Kaylee, blankly. She wouldn't expect the little princess to give her her blood even if she knew the situation. Perhaps she had gone about it wrong - she'd heard a story from her mother when she was very young about how they had taken Claire's blood by threatening her father.. She cursed herself for only remembering this part of the story now.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what Sable had meant when she'd said that I'd known where to meet her. But then I realised. The same place where I'd met her for the first time. Thanking the man for his help, I wasted no time, and immediately raced to that place. My daughter was already there, waiting for me.

I began explaining how I'd gotten caught and identified - omitting the circumstances of how it'd happened, since I suspected she wouldn't exactly thank me - and then I described how their agents had come searching for me that morning. Her frown deepened as she listening.

I agreed to that, fighting against the urge to ask her if she could find out more quickly. I reminded myself that looking more efficiently would just risk her more. That thought made the urge vanish at once.

Yeah, because I'm going to be sharing secrets with Pinehearst, she responded, angrily. Her eyes began flitting around the scene, checking where everyone was - Daphne stood closest to her, only a few metres between them.. for a speedster, that's less than a second. Claire stood behind Knox, another few metres between them. It would be longer for them to get to her.

I'd returned back to Peter's apartment that night, worrying that Pinehearst would grab me in some dawn raid if I returned to LA. As soon as it was light, I was immediately running back to meet Sable.

Kaylee threw out her hands, although she wasn't sure if this was from rage or desperation. Before she even thought of it, she had her plan - she kept Daphne and Knox in place, refusing to let them move. She watched them fight against her power, as she slowly approached Claire. She felt her power begin to shudder, as she held Claire still as well and began to panic. She had to act fast. She took the syringe from her pocket, and jabbed it into Claire's arm.
It filled with blood - blood that could possibly save Noah - and then she flicked her wrist, summoning the needle. She caught it in her hand, holding it carefully and she stared at it with complete concentration for a full two seconds before she realised she had stopped focusing on her enemies. When she looked up, Daphne was already milliseconds away from hitting her, when suddenly, she felt two warm arms around her and then she was a million miles away
