Lily ventured outside of her room at lunch time, and went to her next lesson. It was strange to actually be in class, and she sat at the back, ignoring all the glances.

Her attention was snapped from those thoughts by the rapid screeching of car tyres, and she raised her head. Her eyes widened, and she automatically dove sideways out of the way, her limbs moving without thought. She tried to call out some sort of warning, but her voice refused to work. But somehow the car missed the small boy who'd been behind her, anyway.

Shakily, she regained her feet, and headed over to see if the little boy was alright. The car driver'd gotten out and was already checking him. He apologised profusely, over and over, to everyone, but Brooke could barely hear him.

Because of that dull shock, it took her a while to realise that someone was speaking with her. It was one of the staff.

Lily left class and was crossing the quad to return to her room when she felt something - she was curious. Deadly curious. Suddenly she wanted nothing more than to know what was at the bottom of the grounds. It made no sense to her - she had been there was a thousand times, but now it was all important. She broke into a run, but she only started to sprint when she truly saw who it was

Lily threw her arms around Dani, unable to express any emotion except pure joy. Dani! she kept telling her, waiting to wake up from her dream. Dani was nearly thrown over from the force of her friend's hug, but she returned it just as enthusiastically. It was only when they let go that Lily noticed the second person - a tall man, very attractive
Lily barely glanced at him, though, before returning her attentions to Dani You're back! How are you?! But it's.. Oh my God! Why did you come back? Are you staying? Please, stay! I.. Why did you leave? Did you.. Who's he? Can you..? Please say you're staying

Dani smiled, and told her that the house was only a few miles from here. Lily more than willingly took Dani's hand and the three dematerialised. When they reappeared, Lily was once again hugging Dani And now I get why you broke up with your boyfriend, mumbled Greg. This earned him a slap on the arm

That would be my brother, sighed Dani, although she was smiling slightly. Greg raised his middle finger as he closed the door, and Dani rolled her eyes. He's just sulking because I'm paying more attention to you[/color]
Lily laughed, and followed after Dani, still asking question after question - who was Greg? Since when did Dani have a sister? Why did she leave? Did she find what she was looking for? Dani entered the house, but the second Lily tried to pass through the doorway, she lost her breathe and was thrown backwards

Afterwards, Brooke left the office, and headed back indoors, going up to their room since she had no lessons that afternoon. She let herself in, again deep in thought. Lily wasn't there, but she barely noticed this. She sank onto the bed.

The next day, as she was leaving her first lesson, she remembered the Harvard brothers again. An idea struck her, and she hung back a little, asking to speak with Ms. Aston afterwards.
Ms. Aston.... well, I heard about what happened to the Harvards, and I was wondering... can't anything to be done? Can't anyone help them? I tried my healing, but I don't think it did anything...
The woman shook her head, sighing.

Not really.... sometimes, another Atari can take up a deceased one's Guardian, but it's rare, and success is even rarer. For most, the risk of the pain if we fail is too much of a deterrent to even try. And with those two... especially the youngest one....

Dani rushed to Lily's side and pulled her back to her feet. Lily seemed fine although she was rubbing her forehead a little. Greg, who had heard the loud crack, came to see what had happened, but all he saw was Dani's friend rubbing her forehead. What happened? he wanted to know.
I tried to walk into the house.. replied Lily, a little perplexed. Dani watched her closely as she approached the house again, but the second Lily tried to put a foot inside the house, she was thrown backwards again. Dani helped her to her feet, equally as confused, but Greg seemed to have an idea
Lily is a friend, he mumbled, half to himself although his voice carried. Dani shot him a "you're stupid" look, but this time as Lily stood up and approached the house, she managed to enter unscathed.

I read the book, k? shrugged Greg, seeming unwilling to share. It mentioned dad had some power to protect.. I figured he might have done it on the house

She was in a daze through the rest of the day, and was barely able to react when people spoke to her. She almost didn't even realise. She was lost in thought, trying to find another loophole, a workable one, and also trying to work out why she seemed to care so much. That wasn't really like her.

Over the next week, she slowly began to regain herself, and became able to focus, at least. She thought about them less, too. Or rather, she thought about one of them less. She couldn't seem to forget the other, somehow. She couldn't push Nick from her mind.
