Bea heard Kasia say the name, and tried to smile. She had a sister - well, she had always wanted a sister.. but that was when she was a teenager, and her younger brother kept calling her short, even when she wasn't. What was she going to do? Well, that was a stupid question, what could she do, really? Kasia was.. "Kasia, did you say.. you were pregnant when you phased? When you became a wolf?"
Just before Kasia could answer the question, they both heard the new voice. "There more.. you?" she asked, wondering how many more people could fit into her head before she just exploded.
"Who's the new girl?" he asked again. "Is she in the pack too? But Steph's too young, and she doesn't sound like her anyway... or Lessie or Erin...."

"My name Kasia," she said, assuming she was the new girl.
"Harrison, this is.. this is my half-sister, Kasia, she's.. Polish," said Bea, slowly. Her tone became more urgent and fearful as she asked "Kasia, you were pregnant when you first.. became a wolf, weren't you?"
"Yes, I pregnant," she smiled, the thought of her baby making all of it seem.. brighter, better. "I call him Xavier."

Her thoughts were slow and disjointed, but the pain was indisputable, and she didn't enjoy the irony that she had just killed her boyfriend for hurting her son, and by doing so, she had killed him

Bea too felt the overwhelming sadness, but Kasia didn't even notice everyone else joining her pain, too engulfed it in herself. "Look, Kasia.. You need to.. Do you know how to get to Japan?"
She completely ignored the question at first, and it was only when Bea repeated it that she realised it was directed at her "It take 10 hour." she replied, having picked up that piece of information from her uncle a few years ago. She phased back, cutting the connection with the other wolves, and while it took her a few seconds to realise it, she preferred to be alone in her grief.
As she went through to pack, she tried not to think about the baby clothes she already had in the drawer at the bottom of her wardrobe

Mikael had been mad when he found out how much money she had spent on them, but she hadn't been able to resist, she sighed. She refused to open the door, so ended up settling with her second favourite pair of shoes. Kasia packed hurriedly, anything to get away from all the ideas she had had for Xavier - she had began making him a nursery, even though he was only a few weeks old.

Feeling completely lost, Ethan tried racing away in wolf form in the hope that he'd be able to escape the depressive voices in his head. Of course, that didn't work. He ended up curling up in the wilderness and howling mournfully.

Bea began to worry about her younger sister almost the second the connection was lost, but tried to put it out of her mind, instead going to find Ethan, and try and assist him in mastering the wolfish ways

Ethan now had no idea where he was, apart from still in Japan, since he hadn't crossed any water wider than rivers. He was surely miles away from the palace grounds.
