More and more days passed. Nothing changed. They were both missing. I tried to keep on going, continuing my efforts in finding out what had happened, and trying to keep our other 5 children from finding out, but I suspected that it was fruitless on both accounts.

Abbie and Noah never brought up the question about where their father was. I assumed it was an act of consideration on their part, having sensed what was going on. I assumed they had told the others not to ask, either, but it didn't get rid of the problem. My sleeping got worse and worse, as I managed a few hours a night before being awoken from nightmares of what could be happening to them

With all of those days passing, the sense of desperation grew. It took me weeks, in a daze, to even think of telling the rest of the family, and when I did I gained another shock. Jack, Tracy and Cody were missing too. Completely disappeared. Just like how Gabriel had. Just how Nathan and Peter had.

It grew impossible to act like things were normal after a few more torturous days but the cling to normality was the only thing keeping me going. Getting up, waking up the kids, taking them to school, going to work, passing hours with work, picking them up, playing some games, watching TV, reading books and going to sleep. But no matter how much I pretended, it was not alright without him and neither was I.

The disappearances were growing, Jack was told but when the clock struck six, he grew more concerned. He enetered each room with trepidation and consternation, unknowing what he will find- or wouldn't find. Whiping out his cell phone, Jack called his wife but there was no answer.
Ashleigh tried to sense for her mother, having been asked by her father, yet she had a feeling that she was at home, even though she was nowhere to be seen or heard.

The echoes filled the Calwin mansion only to be heard by Jack. The children had left the house having gone to school. Jack's mood had become much more somber, he had no clue where his wife was. This was not a personal attack, it was an attack on the family. It had happened to both Lowri and Pippy.

I didn't know what to do about that. A part of me - the rational, logical part of my brain - was mentioning that we'd need to take the kids in and look after them, but really I was just too stunned to act, to do anything. It just kept getting more and more. And we still didn't have the faintest clue what had even happened to cause these disappearances.

It was like everything was changing, all at once and instantly. Jack was unprepared for this and what was about to happen. The ground felt absent and so did his surroundings- not even the force of gravity could hold him down. He looked around to see what was going on. Everything around Jack felt intangible as if he didn't belong there and that he was moving to the unknown.

(It's like he's slipped into a parallel universe here. Peter and Nathan would be in the apartment where the 3 of us previously lived before buying our current home. It's still in NY)

Everything he'd see would be as normal, really. He was still at home, and there wasn't much change, except possibly the place could feel smaller, somehow.
