I tried to reassure both girls that things would be fine, that we'd find them easily, even though I wasn't at all convinced myself. I knew Hayley would be picking up on that, too, but she didn't say anything. Maybe she just didn't want to worry her sister. Later that night, I stayed up awake trying to work out what could have happened, how Nathan and Peter could apparently still technically be here even though they'd vanished.

I didn't have any success though. I couldn't find an explanation. The next day, the results were still the same: either at home, or at work, or Nathan at school. Nothing strange.... apart from the fact that no one could see them or hear them or sense them.

Everyone I asked about it had the same response: nothingness. No explanation at all. I searched to find if anyone else had vanished, wondering which option I really wanted. If more had gone, it'd probably mean it was something bigger and more threatening, but as it was it just felt so personal.

Having heard about Nathan and Peter, I asked Noah to location them for me, but he returned with the exact same response as everyone else. It was frustrating me, so I could only begin to imagine how awful it must have been for Lowri.

It wasn't abnormal for Gabriel not to be home yet, I knew, but by the time it was eight, I was beginning to worry. Immediately, I feared that the same thing that had happened to Lowri had happened to me. Instead of worrying the children, I teleported to work and demanded his location from a clairvoyant. He laughed a little, at my worry, when he informed me he was at home. Clinging to the false belief that he might be, I teleported home, calling his name throughout the entire oversized house until I drew my conclusion; he had to be gone.

Every day, I'd keep asking for another reading in the hope something had changed, and when I did that tonight, I was given the remark that Pippy had made a similar request. I could immediately tell that the same thing had happened to Gabriel too, he'd also vanished. What was going on? Was this an attack against us, against our families? Were they targetting us too by targetting our loved ones? How much further would it go?

Still unwilling to accept it, I promised my children that "daddy will be home soon" and sent them off to bed. I followed suit, but it didn't make a difference - I couldn't sleep a wink, tossing and turning without him there. It didn't make sense; they said he was here! He was meant to be here! So where the hell was he?!

It was maddening, trying to define what was going on. Why on earth was this happening? Had someone taken them? But.. it seemed like such a bizarre combination. If they wanted power, and were able to contain Peter, surely they would have taken Abbie and Noah? The idea that it was a personal attack occurred almost straight away, but then.. wouldn't Jack have lost someone, as well?

As time was wearing on, and more and more answers weren't being found, it was beginning to be more and more frightening. More and more real. I was seconds away from admitting to myself that I was clinging to the naive hope that it'd somehow just be sorted out, and that realisation just terrified me again. I knew life didn't work that way.
