Once the door opened, she only took a second to confirm that it wasn't Drew, then began firing. At her side, Keagan and Sean were doing the same. Brea hadn't felt the same doubts as she had, obviously, from the fires blazing around surrounding their enemies. A thick barrier of air was blocking any attempts at retreat or fleeing. One bullet struck a man who had been trying to run at them at superspeed, causing him to suddenly blur into visibility as he died, but the next suddenly struck a forcefield and fell to the ground.

Brea's fires were being turned back too, being manipulated by another. Layla continued to fire, but the forcefield was too strong, too effective. Frustrated, she blasted a small supernova near one of their heads. The man leapt. Then she noticed that his shock had weakened the forcefield, letting a round of bullets through. One had struck him in the shoulder. Not a fatal shot, unfortunately.

Dad, and my mom's brothers, and even my brothers when they were older, he laughed. Basically every male relative I have. I think some of them would have even stopped talking with me if I'd dared to support another team.

She threw another explosion at him, but this time was prepared. He dodged, and his protective barrier caught most of the blast. Then she had to dodge herself as a stream of electricity flew towards her. The static made her hair stand up as it narrowly missed her head.

To her left, Sean was fighting hand-to-hand with two of the enemies' members simultaneously. Blood was staining his arms and shirt showing where they'd previously gotten lucky hits in, but as always, not a mark lasted. However, the next second, a third grabbed his shoulder from behind. He faltered, suddenly weakening, being drained of energy. She dropped him. She then used the opportunity to leap over him, racing through the air barrier and the locked doors which all seemed to melt away temporarily for her, fleeing the lost cause.

Within seconds, Keagan had noticed his brother's new vulnerability. He shot his current opponent, dropped the gun, fell to the floor and rolled over to him, charging into the pair Sean had been fighting and scattering them. The pair were knocked out by the impact. Layla was still fighting the shielder, as was Brea, struggling to get her elements out of his control. Their powers seemed to match.

Neil started to laugh too. "Well, my family have never been that into sports, so. Though I do like basketball, because that's about the only ball I can handle." Neil then drifted away and flushed slightly as he pictured a couple of balls that he wouldn't have anything against learning how to play with. Balls that didn't have anything to do with sports.

"Well, a little I guess. Mostly football, but it is more of an habit than a active cheering. Nataniel shows me some games a couple of years ago, and since then I have watched when I have time."

Raising from his crouched position, Keagan offered a hand to pull his brother up, as Sean recovered from the earlier energy drain. There were only three of their opponents left by now. The man fighting Layla and Brea, a second man and a brunnette. Keagan threw himself into a rolling ball again, charging at the second man. Sean threw himself at the first man. He was deflected by another forcefield, but his attack did distract the man, taking his attention from the women.

He threw a second punch, again being deflected, and began wondering what'd ever get through this defence. The block showed no sign of faltering or weakening. Every attack he was pushing kept being countered by the forcefield, though he could see already that he'd be able to defeat the guy easily without that. His retaliatory attempts had made that clear, with how easy they'd been to dodge and deflect. Seconds later, he was thrown backwards. He didn't realise until he'd risen that he'd been struck by a bolt of lightning flying from the man's hand.

"He's my step-dad." Neil answered simply, a grim expression entering his face as bad memories started emerging from the back of his mind, where Neil had left them.

Sean pushed himself back on to his feet and immediately attacked his opponent again. He was being faced by flames and electricity and howling winds, over and over, but none left their mark. Grimly he kept trying. If the man focused so much on his elemental attacks, possibly he'd slip up in his shielding..... a fierce blast of an explosion just to list left showed that Layla was thinking the same way. She was trying her best to distract him, as was Brea with her constant fire.

They lost track of how long they were caught up in this strange stalemate. Slowly though, they began winning. Brea lost less and less control of her elementsonce created, and more and more of Sean's attacks landed on skin. Slowly they drove the man forwards. His next punch landed solidly on his skull, throwing him backwards, and there was a cracking sound as he hit the desk behind him. At the same second, an explosion tore through his torso.

"You don't have anything to be sorry about." Neil said, succesfully trying to push away the bad thoughts, only trace of the grim expression left. He then took another zip of his wine, leaving his lips red.

You just seemed upset talking about it before, he explained. As Neil took another sip of the wine, his eyes were drawn to his lips without thinking. He leaned forwards. He pressed a gentle kiss to those lips, licking the wine droplets away.

Drew was duelling the brunette woman. She, however, was laughing, and Brea suddenly realised that she'd made no real move to attack him, or any of them.

Caught off guard, Neil was gently kissed by Tyler and as their lips touch, an intense surge went through him, leaving him shivering. Neil distanced himself to be able to look into his boyfriend's eyes, before returning a gentle kiss, while moving his hand across the table and entangling it with Tyler's.

He twisted his hand in Neil's and moved his free hand behind his lover's head. He pulled Neil closer, deepening the kiss. The taste of Neil's mouth flooded across his tongue.

Neil moaned into Tyler's mouth as the kiss deepened and Tyler's hand touched his soft spot on the back of his head, a spot that sent pleasureable shivers throughout the body, spreading like electricity.

He moved closer still, til his body was pressed against Neil's in their shared seat. Releasing Neil's hand, he moved his other arm around Neil, keeping him where he was.

Seen what? he asked, startled. Both Layla and Keagan echoed the same question. She just chuckled.
All of this.... she gestured around, and he knew that she meant the entire ambush. Don't you know I could have blown it for you, at any time? Don't you wonder why I didn't?
