Nah... The World!!! NY is big, but not that big!

Thats what Linderman says;
that the explosion will destroy half of New York City, Linderman rationalizes that it's less than .07% of the population

The girl raised her face, untangling herself from her ash-streaked limbs. She had barely moved, really, for 2 months. She still remembered it. The memory clung to her, irremovable, like the devastation. Unhealable, like the damage she knew the radiation must have done to her body.

It was like yesterday. Finding herself wound up in a ball, in this very corner. The shock numbing her, slowly realising she was still alive. Staying there for hours. Slowly crawling out, surveying the ruins of atrocity with wide eyes, eyes she felt would never revert. Smoke, fire, eerie silence. Not even screams. A burning thirst, which forced her to drink the black rain as it fell, despite her senses screaming at her that it was a bad idea, the knowledge in the back of her head that it would be fatal. As if that mattered. She should be dead.

Nah. He says it is half of NY, .07% of the WORLD!!!

0.7% of the population of the world. everyone in NY dies, and that takes away 0.7% of the worlds poppulatiom

(by "population" he meant the global population)

Martin groans as he pushes open the burnt porthole and climbs out onto the streets of 'New' New York. Damien is not far behind him, and the 9 year old seems to have strengthened after living for two months in the sewers of Old New York, celebrating his birthday down there also.

She crawled further along, until she found the remnants of what had, 2 months before, been a grocery shop. It had been plundered, but some small amount of food was hidden. She took a small bit of this. She shuddered as she swallowed, automatically remembering it was basically poison. But what was the point? She wanted to die.

The girl had no real idea what was going on in the outside world, the new policies towards people like her. That was not the reason she hid, though it would have been reason enough. She hid out of shame. Shame, that after all she'd said, and done, and thought, when it mattered, she had ran. Tears fell from her face, running tracks through the ash.
