There's nothing that can be done, is there? he asked despondently, unknowingly echoing her thoughts. She shook her head.

I think I'll just go, then

Where are you going? asked Danny, softly, creeping into the room.

I'm going to kill him, she whispered coldly.

He was going to comment.. to question.. but he couldn't doubt that Elan.. that Dann.. that Rhi were all safer if he was dead. Be careful.

I'm not going to be careful, I'm going to succeed, she whispered, kissing him once before making for the door.

She blurred away, running all the way to Washington, knowing the way immediately from her brother's earlier memories. She hammered on the door.

Elan? Why are you here?

She didn't answer, only forcing her way within, careful not to let him touch her. She'd be the one doing the taking this time.

What do you want, Elan? he asked again, in the same tone. Her eyes flashed anger.

I know what you did. To Dann.

I suspected as much. You learning of it was almost inevitable.

Don't you even regret it?! she snapped, shouting, even though she already knew the answer. She didn't have a single doubt on the matter, and that was what had led her here, now. He didn't regret it. At all. Just like she'd have no regrets - more like pride - over what she would do in return.

He felt his eyebrows furrow for a second, but he knew where he had to be. Scribbling Elan a note, and leaving the picture in plain site, he bent down beside Rhi and asked her to run them to work. She did so, grinning cheekily, and walking in, Danny knew he still had a few minutes. Rhi walked over to where Tara sat, giggling as Tara picked her up.

Whose kid did you kidnap? asked Tara, smirking as she cuddled Rhi. She's cute.

Yeah, she is, isn't she? he asked, smiling slightly. Just look after her for me, he told Tara, unable to think of a good story, as he stepped back outside, waiting anxiously.

As she thought that - and he made no move to reply or answer her - her fingers tightened on the pistol concealed in her pocket. Slowly, she pulled it out, careful to keep it hidden at first, until she'd aimed it at him. Then she let him see.

His expression was one of shock at first, almost disbelief. He certainly didn't seem to have scene this coming. But then the expression changed, and he was almost struggling not to laugh.

So you're here to avenge him, right? A pity that gun won't have any effect on me.

I think it will. I think I can make it do so.

You can't do that, he smiled, making her want to hit him. But she didn't. Only because she knew exactly how to wipe that smile off his face.

I can. You see, I've gained another ability, recently. I've been practicing with it since, and one of the things I've learned to do with it is block other abilities. So now you can't force the gun or bullets away. And you can't heal. Or regenerate. You can't do a thing except for dying

Danny crossed his arms, and began anxiously waiting. Eventually, he saw the dark haired girl turn the corner, and he stood up blocking her path. She looked up from under her dark hoodie, and seemed to recognise him, instantly. Why wouldn't she? She was here to see him.

Danny, she greeted, surprise in her lighthearted voice. I thought you'd be inside.

Why're you here, Pippy?

Arriving back at the house, Elan found Danny's note.

Family are meant to be together at Christmas... she replied, gently.

Do not bullshit me, he told her, the expression on his face clear that he wasn't taking any of it. He knew more than that, at least.

I am here to see you.. she said, again, trying to sound forceful. Danny raised an eyebrow, angrily, and she finally gave in. OK, I just wanted.. to ask you for a favour.

(Where are they? And what did the note say?)

(Oh, sorry They're outside the pizzeria, and the note just said something like, 'Rhi's at the pizzeria. Something I had to do.' )

What favour? asked Danny, skeptically, uneasy at trusting his sister.
