Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
The date went well, and Liz kissed Chrim goodbye when she got home. She took a deep breathe before unlocking the door. Gemma, who was watching a horror movie in the dark and eating out of a tub of Ben and Jerry's. She jumped when Liz walk in the door, but recovered herself quickly enough to make sure none of the ice cream got on the floor
How's Shiv? asked Liz, immediately, flicking the television with her mind, as she took her coat off and hung it up.
Relax! I put her down two hours ago, and she's been.. well, sleeping like a baby, said Gemma, enjoying the poor metaphor. She patted the sofa cushion Now come and sit and tell me all about your date with Chris
Chrim, corrected Liz, knowing she was going to have to tell Gemma every last detail. And as much as she would refuse to admit it, that wouldn't be torture.

Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
It was night. Megan slipped out of the house. It was time. As she made her way to the herd she wondered how much longer she could do this. Not for the first time Megan cursed the outing of evolved humans. Already people were investigating the livestocks deaths but at least before they thought it might only be some disease or poison. Now they were bound to suspect that it could be the work of an evolved human.

The next morning, he contacted the NC base, hoping to be assigned some mission to distract himself. Their policy was adamant, however - he had to take his leave. Frustrated, he hung up, left alone with his grief.

Liz finished relaying every single detail of her date to Gemma, and offered Gemma the spare bedroom as she didn't want her sister walking home at this time. Gemma was gone by the morning, with a note that read 'Had to go, call me later xoxo'. She spent her morning normally, and tried not to focus on when or if Chrim would call, instead distracting herself with some spring cleaning in Autumn.
It was only when she came to dusting the pictures on the mantlepiece that she realised how long it had been since she had spoken to Rooreru.. She sighed at how negligent she had been of her friend, and wondered if it would be impolite to simply teleport to her house. Deciding it was, Liz decided to call first - she wasn't even sure if they were back from the honeymoon

(She hasn't spoken to her for ages, but she doesn't know if they'd be back from their honeymoon yet? That explains it, then And they would have still been there if Roo hadn't been killed)
It took a while for the noise of the phone to break through his depressive musings, but Eoin eventually heard it. He forced himself to cross over and answer it, his voice crackled and hoarse and broken as he spoke.

Liz? he asked, though he knew it was her, recognising her voice. You... you haven't heard?

He shook his head now, knowing he'd have to tell her. He'd have to force those unforgiveable, unbearable words out, yet again.
Rooreru..... she.... she was killed...

I.. I.. Oh my.. Are you.. I'm so sorry, she whispered. How could Rooreru be dead? How? It wasn't possible, somehow she had be able to be saved, how could Rooreru be dead?

Thanks, he replied dully, while again the tattoo of "it's my fault" began echoing like a drumbeat in his head. He'd failed her. He knew that. He should have been able to save her.

Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
She didn't have any words to say, she could barely remember she was on the phone. How could it be Rooreru? She had just got married, her happily-ever-after. There had to be something - she was immediately going to offer to come to Japan to try and heal her.. but Keitaro had just as many powers as she did, and he would have tried. But she couldn't give up - giving up was conceding defeat, accepting she was gone

Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
(Keitaro doesn't have half the abilities Liz has But then the only thing Liz could really try differently would be giving regen blood)
Eoin heard Liz's shocked silence, and correctly guessed that the woman would be now searching in vain for a loophole. He had been, too. But time and grief had worn away at that hope, showing it for the pointlessness it was. There was nothing which could be done. Everything had already been tried. Everything had already failed.

(Still, in her head, he has the same healing abilities )
I.. Eoin, I'm so sorry, she muttered, seeming to remember that she was even on the phone. There had to be something, there couldn't be nothing, she couldn't be dead, it just didn't make sense.

Dully, Eoin said goodbye and hung up, with nothing else to say. Even thinking of it, remembering it, burned him, hurt like bitter acid. But he couldn't not do so. Everything was a reminder, absolutely everything.

Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
Every glance around the apartment would bring up another memory, a fresh wave of pain. It was agonising. He closed his eyes tightly, wincing, wondering how long it'd be until this faded. Would it ever? He wasn't sure. He didn't think his uncle Steven had really ever gotten over Mary, and he suspected that'd been behind his refusal of Rooreru's healing, 2 years ago. And at least they'd had 7 years together!

Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
The next week was pretty much the same, as it passed. Almost daily Sinead would call, inviting him over as if now frightened to leave him alone. He'd mainly claim to be busy, when she did. She seemed to see through that, but still decided to let him be, let him choose. It'd been raining non-stop all week, too.

Re: World 1 - Redemption And Revenge
(*kinda needs inspiration*)
Every day, he'd try getting another mission from work, hoping that it'd distract him. But they were still firm in their belief that his grief would be too distracting for him. He knew they were right, deep down. He still hated the decision though.
