Liz had heard about the funeral, and was trying to distract herself with Shiv, who was becoming more and more impatient about wanting to see Aito. Liz did her best to act normally, to pretend everything was alright - she called Gemma and asked if she would be available to babysit for the funeral, and Gemma accepted without question.

As Pippy just pointed out, Aito hadn't been teleporting over randomly to visit Shiv, like he usually did. There was a reason for that. He was upset, because he hadn't seen either of his parents for a while, and Grandma wouldn't explain why. He'd tried teleporting to his mommy too, and that hadn't worked, and it scared him.

He forced himself to regain control of himself, and moved on, disembarking. As he got a cab and asked for the nearest hotel, the driver tried to speak with him for a little while, before reading the tone of his brusque answers. The rest of the journey was silent.

He maintained that quiet as he got out and paid, and spoke as little as he could while buying a room. The memories seemed to be haunting him. There was something there, everywhere, which would trigger it, something which would remind him of Rooreru or the times they'd had together, the future they could have had which had been so cruelly stolen away.

He entered the room and sighed heavily, locking the door. As he collapsed into sitting on the bed, the tears which had been threatening his eyes throughout the journey finally broke. It just hurt..... so much. Indescribably so. Like it'd be unthinkable for it to ever fade or end.

The hours slid slowly by, and when he woke the next morning, he immediately found the close hotel room to be claustrophobic. He left, hoping that some air could clear his head, and distract him from the memories. However, as he walked onwards without much thought of where he was going, he found himself walking towards the spot where they'd been married. He only recognised it when he was there.

Instantly he froze, his breath catching in his throat. The memory struck him with the force of a battering ram. They'd been so happy..... so bittersweet, now. Even this memory ruined and tainted.

Frozen, he'd even stopped moving for a moment, his mind's eye replaying that day instead of seeing the here and now. No one looked at him, however. They just passed, going on with their own lives, when his seemed frozen still.

The days passed slowly, but soon it was the day of the funeral. Eoin'd returned to the airport to meet Sean and Sinead, but their greetings were unusually sombre. Neither really knew what to say to him, still. They knew condolences wouldn't change anything.

Liz woke up the next morning and dressed quickly. She put on minimal make up because she knew it would just run. She woke Gemma up just before she left and kissed the still sleeping Shiv goodbye before she teleported off to Japan.

Sinead woke early the morning of the funeral, but she knew Eoin in the room next door would have slept less, having been awake almost all night. She sighed. Crossing over to the window, she wasn't surprised to see a thick drizzle outside, which was slowly growing into a downpour. She knew it was her doing. And she didn't think she'd be able to stop it even if she tried.

She quickly showered, dried and dressed herself in a simple black dress. She hesitated before putting on her makeup, strongly suspecting it'd end up streaming down her face, but did it anyway. It just seemed to fit. Once she was ready, she went to knock on her cousin's door.

Liz arrived early and found the spare time didn't help. Liz couldn't put her out of her mind, but she realised pretty soon the day wasn't to forget Rooreru or to forget the pain. The point was to say goodbye. But even that made her feel hollow.. Saying goodbye just seemed so impossible
