Doubt flooded her suddenly, and she threw herself into movement, breaking her own paralysis. She hurtled forwards. She had to be quick enough. Blade swinging, she aimed with all her strength at the creature's neck. A heavy, thick resistance, then blood came gushing out. The woman it'd been holding hostage still fell lifeless to the ground, her neck snapped.

Seconds later, the orahichii's headless corpse fell on top of her body. Min began hacking it into pieces, her movements furious. Her eyes were blurring before she realised she was crying. She tore it into six parts and set it afire, as she remembered from the instructions. Then Blaine managed to pull her away from the scene.

Blaine drove them both back to headquarters, leaving Min's car behind. She could reclaim it tomorrow. Luckily, that park was a public enough place that no one would find the vehicle's presence suspicious. The area they'd fought the orahichii in had been dark and shadowed, but most of the rest of the park had been crowded. Hopefully no one had seen anything. He knew though, even as he considered the risk of witnesses, that he was avoiding thinking of what was really weighing on him, weighing on them both.

Min was still crying silently as they arrived. He helped her out, and noticed that she was by now trembling.
I never saw that before, he admitted quietly. Someone.... get killed....

I really thought it wouldn't, she continued. I thought... it only attacked people to transform them, so.....
Blaine nodded absently. He wasn't fully listening. He knew that Min knew this, but she wasn't really talking to him, only talking to hear words and to fill the void. He couldn't stop picturing it, either. It was on replay in his brain.

Min shook her head. That hadn't been what she was asking, really. She knew she couldn't have moved any more quickly. There was just this nagging thought in the back of her head. If only she hadn't frozen.... if only she had been able to kill the monster before... if only. Those didn't change a thing.

He shook his head. It really didn't. And he was finding that he didn't want to speak of it any more, didn't want to hear Min dwelling on it. Awkwardly at first, he wrapped an arm around her, wishing he could do more, wishing he could somehow erase the pain, the guilt and the memories from both of them. She froze, but then she leaned forwards and pressed her face into his shirt.

She continued to weep. He could feel her shaking, trembling in his arms. Without really knowing what he was doing, he found his hands running through her hair, almost unable to stop. She raised her head, moving away a little. Then the next second, he'd lowered his face to hers, and they were kissing.

Shocked, he tried to pull away - before she did. She was grasping onto him tightly though, one hand caught in the fabric of his shirt, the second wrapped around the back of his neck. Within seconds he'd given up. He let himself sink into the kiss. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer against him.

Her body was pressed against him, arms entangled tightly around her tiny frame, and all he could taste and feel and think about was her. He could feel her hands twisting through his hair, feel her lips and mouth moving against his. He broke off, gasping for air. She snatched hold of his mouth for another desperate kiss.

Min couldn't honestly claim that she knew what she was doing, now, that she could have thought this through. She just wanted to feel something other than the darkness. She was just that cold, that numb. She needed something. So she practically threw herself at Blaine, refusing to let go or stop, thinking that if he ever tried stopping this now, she might just stab him.

He didn't stop though. Not at all - quite the opposite. He kept kissing her, passion building, heat flaring between them. Her hands had slipped down, gripping his shirt again, beginning to undo it. He gasped when he felt her fingers tracing his skin.

She pulled the shirt off, throwing it aside, free hand still running over his chest. When he tried to do the same to hers, his fingers were shaking too much to handle the buttons. She eventually fixed it herself. Then she leapt on him again, kissing him ferociously til it drove her dizzy.

She clung to him and pressed herself against him, breathing heavily as he broke away from her mouth. He began kissing slowly down her neck. She was fast losing the ability to think. This was a mistake, this was something she should regret for some reason, this was..... something.... She still didn't stop though. Not when he kept on kissing her, hands running heated caresses across her skin. Not when they were wrapped so tightly around each other they felt as if they couldn't break apart. Not when she found herself crashed against the door, nor when they passed that door, into the bedroom. Not when they collapsed into the bed.

The next morning, Blaine began stirring slowly. He felt disorientated, at first, feeling Min lying beside him. Then he couldn't help but grin. She was still fast asleep, on her side with her face turned towards him. After a moment, he leaned over to kiss her softly.

Those words felt like a punch in the gut for him. He couldn't stop himself from staring at her, shock and disappointment obvious, and she couldn't meet his eyes. She located her clothes and hurriedly headed over to redress herself. They both remained silent. As soon as she'd finished, she left the room.

For a second, Blaine pondered going after. He'd grabbed his clothes and was halfway into them before reconsidering. What could he even say? Min had made her viewpoint vividly clear, painfully so. To her, last night had been a mistake. It'd be better if they acted as if it never occurred.
