Three of the kids were at the back. Cody eventually gave in and sat in the passenger seat. Tracy and Ashleigh went in Tracy's car. We headed off to the zoo, hoping that the day will cheer everyone up.

Cody grumbled in the seat. He was silent the whole trip. Finally we got there and parked up. Tracy had the pram out, Ashleigh in it. Cody was holding my hands, finally cheering up a little. I was rolling another pram that was holding Hayley and Amber whilst i kept my eye on Nathan letting him roam freely.

Abbie sat in the corner, watching Zach. He was playing, with his toy cars. Noah was sitting beside him, as they raced the small cars, buses, trucks and vans. None of them looked happy. Abbie had taken on the role of looking after her baby brother, their father not speaking to anyone.

I looked at the pram at both the girls, smiling just to cheer them up. Cody, was enjpying himself for the time beings. Punding his chest like a gorilla. He did this and the gorilla behind the thick sheet of plastic copied him, with a glance of sadness.

Nathan laughed at that, poking Cody with air. Seeing their brother laugh, the twins started to laugh too.

Cody pulled a stroppy face, then looked at them all laugh. He still felt guilty, even guilty for their mother's death. Maybe he just killed them all, one after the other, without even realising it.
Eventually Tracy was getting tired, so was I. Me and her both couldn't cope with the sadness, the miserable kids, and the weight on their shoulders. We decided to go home, heading towards the exit, if any of the kids even bothered or cared. I knew they lost their mother, their only hope, but it seemed that i was helpless, i couldn't do anything to cheer them up, so why try? Why bother, when all i get is nothing, no response, just silence?

Hayley stopped smiling, sensing her cousin's depression. It was too much. She couldn't cope. A dead mother, a father who was giving up, grieving siblings and herself......and she was only a year old. She couldn't do anything.

If they were reborn, it'd be his new life's purpose to find her once more. And if she was right, and their spirits became a part of the rest of life.....each fragment in each living thing, it wouldn't just be one. It'd be two. One of hers and one of his, eternally together, inseperable. Bonded so strongly that death could not part them, ever.

We get to the exit, strapped them in the cars, and put the prams in the boots. We travelled, going towards home, letting the silence fill our ears with sadness.

He moved closer to her, gently kissing her forehead and then her mouth. He flashbacked to her last death, the last time he'd done this. That time, it'd saved her. Saved them both. But it wasn't to be.

Unloading everything at home, Tracy put Ashleigh to bed. I sighed, wanting to escape. Run away. Maybe i could, just walk at the door and go, never come back to the stress, the misery, the sad gulping faces. Everybody expecting more from me, everyone trusting me. Too much, and yet i got nothing, no outcome of my life, no achivments. Only my kids, they were my achivments, yet i wasn't even a proper father to them, they deserved more, better. A new father.

He sighed. He'd already been through this, an infinite amount of times. He'd already realised he couldn't live on. Despite all who needed him to do so.
He knelt beside her again, gently raising one hand to her face. He caressed her jawline before moving to close her eyes and kiss her closed eyelids.
I love you. And we'll be together soon.
