HomeSoon they were all ready, and about to leave. They were heading for the large industrial warehouse complex, 3 cities away, where those men had been located. The captives would be there. They had to be. As they travelled, Sky could almost feel like she could sense the newly identified bond between her and Daniel, tightening as they got nearer to him. Or maybe it was hope making her imagine that.

As they set off, Dani began worrying again - her dad had he would do the best, but he wasn't here. How was he meant to do his best by not showing up? Just as she thought it, he seemed to appearance, almost right beside her, a big grin on his face

As they arrived, the vehicles drawing to a halt, Sky tightened her grip on her pistol til her knuckles were white. She didn't really need the weapon, but it just made her feel better. A little less helpless.
Are we ready? Nick asked to her, his voice little more than a hoarse whisper. She nodded tersely.

He didn't need any capacity to sense emotions to pick up on that tenseness, but he didn't mention it. He just swallowed down his own nerves, his own fear, reminding himself that this was for Daniel, that they had to save him, had to save them all. Then he exited the vehicle, Sky in his shadow. The nearest men began firing at once. Within a heartbeat, Sky was already fighting away, using the air to shield everyone and deflect away as many of the bullets as she could. Gales were battering into the enemy, throwing them backwards and pounding through the doors and windows.

The men continued to fire, but she deflected them all, forming a protective circle around herself and Nick. Some of the bullets hit the men who'd fired them - or other agents here - but she barely noticed that. She ignored the firing emotions of pain radiating from them, gritting her teeth against the stench of death here. They'd nearly broken their way through on one side.

Dani moved on her own, losing Christian already - she reassured herself that he would be okay, that everything would be just fine, as she took cover for a second, before closing her eyes and focusing. Second row, seventh cell. She didn't really know what was happening as she appeared outside the door, Mark and Lily both alert, trying to find the source of the gunfire, their hands grasped tightly

They broke their way through, fighting inwards. Nick was firing without thought, hitting every man who'd even seemed like he was aiming at Sky, the action reflexive. She was completely focused upon battering their way further, breaking in. They'd reached the first row of cells, released around 5 inhabitants, most young children. No sign of Daniel yet. They continued on.

She tried to follow that illusive suggestion of a link forwards, still not sure if she was half making it up. There was something there though..... wasn't there? Or was it just hope and shadowplay and her other Guardian's presence beside her? She didn't know. She didn't have a clue. All she could do was what she did - continue to fight her way inwards.

In the dark of his own cell, Daniel raised his head. What was that he was hearing? He didn't think he'd just imagined it.... it sounded like fighting. Gunfire, and shouting. What was going on? For a moment his heart leapt up, though he didn't fully dare to believe it could be freedom.

Dani looked around for a way into the iron barred cell, but right now, she didn't have any. She told the two not to worry, and began dashing around, searching for a guard or something, someone she could get to open the cell for her, but just as she turned the corner, her father appeared again, his face cheerful
What are you so happy about? she asked, the idea that he was loving this proposterous to her.
Haven't had a good fight in years, chuckled her father, holding out his hand to reveal a ring of keys.
You're the best dad ever, said Dani, honestly meaning it - it seemed ridiculous, but if he was telling the truth, if he had done this to try and protect her.. he wasn't as shit as he could be.
I try, he said, grinning stupidly, but just as he was about to hug her, there was a loud clunking sound, and the giant door was swung open, men pouring through with guns and weaponry. Go get your friends!

She fumbled with the keys, trying each one on Lily and Mark's door, and eventually found the right one. She moved onto the other cells, working as quickly as she could, searching for anyone she could recognise

The people seemed to be gathering, some of them were so young, but everyone was looking for some kind of guidence. Dani sighed, guessing she was meant to tell them what to do - but what was she meant to do? She heard a loud bang, a few more gunshots, and began to panic a little. Mark and Lily were the only people she had recognised so far - and a girl from her Vampyre History, but they had never spoken. She told the older ones to look after the little ones, to try and find a way out, to be careful - she warned them that there were a lot more people still to be found, there had to be.
An omnious thought appeared in her mind, where the rest weren't there anymore, but she knew that wasn't right. They had to be okay, they had to be. The others would find them, she told herself, and then she ran back to where her father had been fighting off the men. No concern had been given to him - he would be fine, he had been around for so long, how could he not be fine?

Nick and Sky had been fighting their way through another cell block, in this maze of a place. Similarly to Dani they'd found perhaps hundreds of small children, the little ones who would have been easiest to capture at the school. No one they recognised. No sign of Daniel.

She held her breathe as she turned the corner, seeing her father standing with his back against the wall - it was bizarre, really. The expression on his face was comical, somewhere between a smile and a laugh, his face filled with joy when he saw her
You gotta keep going, he called, and his voice carried through the sounds of the gunfire. He was holding his own weapon - one of the same machine guns all the other guards were holding, and she could see he had probably taken it off one of the dead guys. Promise me that one
He opened fire again, this time hitting a few of the guards standing at the front, all the shots at him missing, his face still the same expression, as suddenly one other guard opened fire, and this time, the bullets collided with him, ripping into his torso, his neck, his arms, his body, and most importantly - his head

The sounds of fighting drew ever closer, but he still couldn't fully believe it. He didn't dare to hope. Then all the sounds ceased.

She waited, almost impatiently for him to stand up again, and after a few minutes, he did. His body just healed over, almost as if it had never been injured, and picking himself up, he began firing again
The shocked looks on the guards faces seemed to make him laugh, as he chuckled to himself, loudly I know, it's really unfair, isn't it?

Onwards they headed again, out of that particular block of cells, searching for more. They reached a corner, and then the way parted. Sky halfheartedly suggested that they part in order to search more thoroughly, but she suspected Nick would refuse, before he did, and really she felt glad that he had. She didn't want to be apart from him. Not here. She didn't want either of them to be alone. Quickly she chose a direction to go into, and they went that way, going through a short passageway and then finding a flight of stairs which led to a basement.

Down those stairs they continued, moving carefully and quietly, with Sky probing the air ahead for any signs of movement. It seemed deathly still. Eerily so. The place was dimly lit, so they had to move slowly, and give their eyes enough time to adapt to the low visibility. That slowness just added to Sky's anxiety, and the anxiety she also sensed from her Guardian.

Dani smiled at her father, who appeared to keeping his calm very well in the situation, and snuck past the guards to another corridor. She ran down it, looking for the room she had just been in, saving time by dematerilising at one end of the corridor and rematerilising at the other

They rounded another corner, and Sky became aware that she was sensing a group of presences, and a group of aggressive emotions, at the exact same time as the air told her. She reached out immediately, using both air and metallokinesis to try to deflect the bulletfire, but some still came through.
