I headed out of the building, heading a cab on the street and thus learning that I was in New York. I asked to be taken back to my own small home back in Fort Lee. Arriving, I ran in to get some cash to pay the fare, and paid it. Then I stopped, and tried to think of what I'd do next.

I knew the answer really, well I knew what I was meant to do, at least. It was simple enough: return to Pinehearst. Returning to them, and persuade them that whatever'd happened had been a mistake, and not my fault. It should be easy enough. I didn't know why I was hesitating.

Sighing, I forced myself to move, going downstairs to the building's garage and my car, then driving to Pinehearst. I walked in, confidently, almost projecting that. It'd be simple. And it was. Within half an hour, I'd regained the job, without any complications. My disappearance yesterday seemed almost forgotten.

Within hours, I was back to work, heading to another city in the area on another recruitment mission. I did so easily, speaking with the woman and handing her the card, then leaving. Giving just enough effort into it to make it look like I cared, when really I didn't give a shit, or maybe I even was subconsciously wanting to sabotage it. Then I was away again, heading for the second, and then the third.

Brigitte reacted much better than I had expected her to, although she did snap at me for being so obvious with my power. I didn't let it get me down, and we headed out for our meal. Since I was still buzzing from having a second power, I skipped around her happily, asking annoying questions

She retorted in quick one or two-word answers, but I was wearing her down, and she actually laughed at my stupid little comments. We reached the restaurant and had a nice enough meal - I spent the entire time making "You shouldn't be drinking at this time of day" jokes to make up for Bridge's refusal to let me drink. She was in a much better mood afterwards, though
