Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
Nam sighed deeply, looking around her bedroom. She'd only returned to the home that afternoon, having only just been discharged from the medical quarters. And everyone was still treating her like glass. It irritated her no-end. She'd been drained, true, but she knew she'd returned to strength!! She knew it!! Being half-human didn't limit her like everyone assumed it did. Or it didn't to the degree they believed anyway, not to the degree it ought to.

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
It was strange, that. The way her strength was more than it ought to be, the way her human half didn't seem to hold her back enough. Sometimes it made her wonder if that half was still within her. And then she'd worry over the fact that she didn't find herself mourning the possibility. It'd been her life, for the first 14 years, but it was all in her past now, this was where she belonged. She couldn't go back. Maybe that knowledge really was cutting out even the human blood in half of her veins.

Enochian wrote:He frowned, Dark rumours have been circulating lately, each one more troubling than the last. Tales of mythical creatures attacking poor defensive mortal towns with magic so great....it brings a chill to the bones to imagine what those poor people experienced, not even the women or children were spared. Vicious attacks from bloodthirsty beasts wanting chaos in the land once again. You are young Aira, you would not know of the trials of the Lost War. I'm assuming you've never heard of it? No? I didn't think so. The Lost War was a war centuries ago between mortals and mythics like us. Of course, the mortals were losing badly and some mythics wanted to stop the slaughter of the poor indefensible mortals but others refused, they said we should rule tis entire world, that mortals had no place in it and so the slaughter continued. But some, like one of my ancestors Cornelius, resisted. They banded together and worked a spell more powerful than this world had ever seen and likely will ever see. It was then they created the Torti. If you are well versed in the language of the Old Religion you would know this means 'The Saviours'. Tests were created, popping up around the world testing certain people of great skill and courage and if they passed, they became one of the Torti. When the group of seven had been assembled they used their powers together and devastated the mythics forces, destroying any who resisted the mortals right to life. In the end, the assault stopped and humanity was saved from the brink of extinction. Then the Torti created borders, very powerful magical borders and a law was decreed that any mythic who crossed the border without permission from a Torti council would be sealed in the mortal countries and be stripped of their powers. Think Aira, have you ever heard of anyone returning from the those countries?
Aira shook her head.
King Vension continued, Another spell was also placed. The descendants of the Torti, would be the rulers of cities, Sooden being one of them. Yes, my ancestor Cornelius was one of the seven. These descendants would guard the secrets of the Torti and if the time arouse again that the mortals were in danger these tests would once again appear and another seven would rise again the the position of the Torti.
Aira eyes widened as she understood what he was saying, No...
Yes, you Aira are a Torti. You passed. You obliterated that tree with your lightning. Four of the Seven have already assembled. You are the fifth. They need your help. We have received intelligence that a certain city has been fueling these attacks. They have been plotting for a very long time against the mortals and they need to be stopped. The Torti has risen to destroy them. They need your help Aira, they need your help to destroy the city of Oherin.
No. No way. Not a chance... Aira turned and stormed to the door, she just needed to get out of here and things would be alright. This man is crazy, I need to get away from him then everything will be OK...
Aira stop.
In spite of herself, Aira did stop. This isn't happening. A Torti? Her? Even the thought was proposterous to contemplate. She wasn't a warrior, she was just Aira of Camelot, an ex-seamstress looking for work and a better life. She left Camelot for peace, now she was being told her destiny was in war? In killing? No, it was impossible.
Aira it is your destiny. Aira remained silent. I understand that you don't believe me, but Aira, I can prove it to you. you just have to trust me.

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
A sudden noise broke her out of her musings. Footfalls, though she'd asked her family not to disturb her, and she'd expected to be obeyed in that. The memories of the past few days caused her to reflexively throw up a protective shield, and as the first bursts of fire scraped over that barrier, she realised that the defensiveness had just saved her life. Her eyes widened. What was going on? Who had just attacked her, and why?

The next attack pushed that question to the back of her mind, as she was forced to concentrate and strengthen her defences. She sent one stream of fire to deflect a third strike, and then one directly at the attacker. It missed, but narrowly. Her breath escaped her in a hiss as she sent another.

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
Again and again she continued to attack, paying no attention to the possible damage she could be doing to their surroundings. She was completely focused on the young man facing her. The attacker. She knew she'd have to defeat him, capture him. It'd be the only way she could gain answers to the questions pounding her mind. Who was he? Why had he attacked, and why at her? Why now? Did he know of her weakening, and expect to gain an advantage from it? She threw those questions into every strike and every counter, pounding against his defences, wearing them down.

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
She attacked once more, seeing the expression of strain on his face for just a second, seeing him stumbling and taking just half a step backwards. Noting this, she intensified her strikes. A second later, his barrier crumpled. She tried to call her strikes back, but one had hit him before she could recall them. She watched guiltily as the flames caressed his face, manipulating the damage away from being serious, but unable to stop it completely.

(Bailey and Goru found an injured guy when exploring the world, and Bailey healed him. Aira's refusing to accept that she's one of the Torti, and King Vension's trying to persuade her. Nam got attacked by another bloodwitch in her home, but managed to defeat and capture him)

Nam watched him cautiously for a moment, expecting some sort of movement or retaliation, but he didn't stir. He seemed unconscious. But she didn't dare believe she'd defeated him, unscathed. Was she really that powerful? She wasn't meant to be. She was half-human! Why didn't that bring the limitations it ought to?

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
Who are you? she asked quietly, but she didn't expect any answer, or gain one. She'd just been voicing her own thoughts aloud. She shook her head, and checked one last time that he was deeply unconscious, therefore unable to get up and attack someone else while she'd be gone, before leaving to report to the authorities.

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
The hours ticked by. Nam had returned to her rooms, attempting to repair the damage of her earlier fight, but her mind was nowhere near the task. She couldn't stop thinking of it. She couldn't stop thinking of him. In her mind, she kept picturing the assassin, his strikingly young face and the way it'd been narrowed with hate. She could have almost tasted his bloodlust then. Now her mind was spinning with questions. Who had he been? Why had he been there? Why had he tried to kill her?

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
She wished those were her only questions, her only concerns. She dearly wished that. It'd be a sane person's thoughts... but no. Not her. Despite herself, she was seeing him crumpling under her attack, seeing the burns covering that face, and worrying if she'd done permanent damage. She sighed, and buried her face in her hands.

I... Thank you, he said, trying to work out why he wasn't dead - why he wasn't dead
It wasn't my doing, said Goru, shooting a look as if to say 'Praise her'. He stuck a hand out, and introduced himself I'm Goru, and this is my wife, Bailey

Why couldn't she be reacting to this sanely? She shouldn't be worrying over him.... he'd tried to kill her!! And yet, she was. Undeniably. She began pacing the room over and over, trying to deny the fact that it was almost inevitable that she'd go see him.

She continued to pace for yet another hour, before giving up and leaving the manor. She made her way slowly, paying little attention to her surroundings as she passed through, lost in thoughts and recollections. Even without any attention, she still found herself arriving at the entrance of the prisons. She hesitated, but forced herself to walk forwards.

Yes, I'm sure of what I'm doing! she snapped at the guard, after he'd inquired of that subtly for what felt like the millionth time. Her answer was a lie, of course. She'd never felt less sure or certain of herself. But she couldn't turn away now, or let that doubt show, so she faked the usual confidence of her family, one of the leaders of Oherin in the entire bloodwitch race. It worked. She was, grumblingly, let through.

Nice to meet you, smiled Bailey. [color:46e5=[pink]Can I ask.. why.. why you were like that?
His lips frose, slightly, a tight smile fixed into place, before he seemed to relax a little
Sure..
So why were you like that? asked Goru, smirking slightly. The man seemed nice enough, but he was the ready.. any sudden movements and he would to protect her.

Re: World 9 - Mythical Crossover
She walked nervously on, stopping at the entrance of the cell. There were one-way barriers present to stop the young man from leaving it, but she could see in effortlessly. He gave no reaction at all to her presence, not even raising his head.
Who are you? she asked immediately, the words falling off her tongue without any control from her. Why did.... why did you attack me like that? Why me?
No answer. No reaction at all.
Are you going to answer me? Or just ignore me?
Silence again.
Can you.... can you just give me your name? Mine's Namarien.
The answer was so low, the tone so fatal and defeated, that she barely heard it.
Does it matter? Dead men aren't named.

What do you mean? she asked, shocked. They wouldn't execute you. It's illegal.
His answering laugh was broken, false and obviously forced. The bitterness was palpable.
